I don't think I believe this. I can believe that he had regular dealings with the Russian Mafia, yes, but not with Mossad. At most he may have made himself occasionally useful in return for favors. But a regular "agent" I doubt.

Evidently he has a vivid enough imagination to write 53 books.  This could be another diversionary story.
