You are a lucky person to have such an intelligent thoughtful conservative person as your rep.
For our community, we are fortunate to have pro-life pro-family rep and congressman, but they are both Dems and are not pro-enterprise.

A "must read" ping -- thoughtful discussion by Haynes about Schwarzenegger, McClintock and the recall.
To: LaraCroft
Thank you very much for posting this.
Haynes is truly a great man.
I do hope those who really need to, will read it.

I expect to be called all sorts of names by people who I call friends, and should know better. Amen, brother. Preach it.

I told him I didn't know, but Darrell would have a persuading argument to ask him [McClintock] to step aside, since Tom could not have made it work without Darrell's help. I know Darrell talked to Tom about not running. Tom ultimately decided not to reconsider. Issa is a strong conservative, and was, more than any other, responsible for the success of the recall, but Tom's believed he should be Governor. That was one of the principal reasons (though not the only one) Darrell chose not to run. We lost a solid conservative, who could have financed his own campaign, and got a solid conservative who could not, because Tom believed he was entitled to the Governor's office. So McClintock's sense of entitlement trumps Issa's money, because it is Issa who is selfless not McClintock.

Which brings me to Schwarzenegger. I did not need to get involved in this race, and the easiest, and most political, thing for me to do would be to endorse Tom. Everyone would have expected it, and I would get no heat for the decision. But I believe the essence of leadership is letting your friends know when they are doing something wrong. It is easy to tell folks who have never supported you that they are wrong, there is no political cost to that. Looking your supporters that they are wrong is hard, because no one likes to hear that. There is a significant political cost that attaches to that. If I had said or done nothing, or endorsed Tom, I could have skated through this entire event without cost to me. But, if Cruz wins because Tom split the vote, the cost to the conservative movement in California will be immeasurable. We started the recall, we need to finish it with a victory. If we lose now, and there is a better than average chance we will if things stay the same, we will rightly bear the criticism that we handed this state over to the Democrats for the next 7 years. Our shortsightedness could cost us the entire war in this state. That is a risk I will not take. I have worked too hard, fought too much for the things we believe in to sacrifice them for my political career, for someone else's ego, or for the shortsightedness of those who are my allies. Nice ....

Fascinating insight from someone on the inside. Two points stand out. First, Tom McClintock's all-encompassing ego of feeling that he is "entitled" to the governorship that he essentially spit in the face of Darrell Issa, the "father" of the recall. Second, Haynes points out if this were a primary, he'd support Tom. It's essentialy for everyone to recognize this is NOT a primary. It's a General and we need to support the strongest candidate in order to end the Bustamante-Davis regime. Thumbs up to Haynes- excellent piece.

WOW.
This is a must, MUST read about McClintock's history with the recall and his current lack of support. It is a letter from Ray Haynes who knows McClintock well and this explains a great deal.

On the social issues on which we can have an effect, Schwarzenegger is with us.
Searched the article for the following words... Illegal, Illegals, Alien, aliens, migrant, immigrant, immigration, drivers, license, and licenses. Nothing.

Ray just said everything I have said about Arnold and Tom.
Arnold is a leader who will surprise people by governing more to the right than what is expected.
Tom is in this for Tom and is a "little", self-centered man.
To: LaraCroft
Anold supports the murder of 3000 innocent American babies every single day. Day after day. Today, manana. Next week, next month, and the month after that. And the year after that. 3000 a day, 21,000 dead every week, week after week. Arnold supports this holocaust. If you support Arnold you are supporting, advocating, encouraging, AND paying for the murder of 21,000 innocent unborn babies every single week of the year. This is much worse than what the Nazi regime could have dreamed of. Voting for someone who sees nothing wrong in MILLIONS OF BABIES, BEING KILLED BY THEIR VERY OWN MOTHERS EVERY YEAR. Arnold and his followers support this holocaust.
Vote for someone who is decent, who believes in God, who walks the walk of a Patriot, of a Christian. Its easy to write 20,000 words when you are trying to run away from your responsibility. It takes just a few to say the TRUTH.
VOTE FOR TOM McClintock. TOMAHAWK
