I don't miss most of nyc. The things I miss, oddly, besides family and some friends, is being near water. I grew up on manhattan, downtown, so always took waterways for granted. I didn't expect to miss that, but I do. I live about 70 miles from NY (in PA) so I don't get there too often. Right now the scenery is beautiful with the changing leaves. Every once in a while we go to NY to see a show so we get to see the nicest parts of the city.
I feel the same way about the water and enjoy going boating at a nearby lake. Best wishes and good luck out there.
