Word For The Day
Monday, September 29, 2003 | Slip 18

Posted on 09/29/2003 7:20:58 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip is watching you. She has a large telescope with her today. She will be yanking you out of class and into the Janitor’s closet if you are evil, and then maybe sending you off to the Principal’s office to refresh your memory on the usage of his learning stick. And, yes, the paddle has those wondrous holes in them.

flatulence noun:
Pronunciation: flat’u-lens Etymology: Flatus – Latin “ a blowing”

Excessive gas in the stomach and intestines.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Now, Vast and xsmommy, play nicely in here today with all the other students! Flurry, you behave yourself, otherwise Nurse Helga will take care of your flatulence in a not so nice way.

I heard Principal Robinson is roaming the halls today, so all of you students be on your best behavior.

You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

England was making plans for their own manned spaceship, but couldn't get anybody in the House Of Lords to sponssor the in-flight meals.

Nobody wanted to take the title Sir Launchalunch.

If the Astros had just a fraction of the desire to win that the Texans have, they'd be in the playoffs now.
They're perennial chokers, anyway - wouldn't get past first round of playoffs.

The Texans, however, are fun to watch - even though you know they're still a couple of years away from being seriously competitive.

The Texans have a better chance than the Browns this year, they lost to the Cincinatti Bengals of all teams.

"Bitchin' Freeze". LMAO! Maybe someone can drop off a cucaracha colony at the building, while they're at it. Oh, and some bats for her belfry, too.

Wow! 400 years? That is a REAL antique, lucky, lucky you.

But we have to do some major work on the chairs; they're getting rickety. It's amusing -- people notice right off that they're a set, but it's not until you mention it that they notice the backs are of different heights, with minor differences in the style and skill of the carvings, as if they were done by a master and apprentices.
