I've never been first on any thread but wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I tuned into the new show The Brotherhood of Poland NH on Wednesday evening (CBS) and it was gone from my TV screen in less than 5 minutes! It was disgusting and amazing that it only took a few short minutes into the show to see what pure junk it will be. Hope it doesn't stay around long but I just choose not to watch.

Liberal Hollywood has been engaged in an all out effort to coarsen our culture since the 1960's. Unfortunately, they have succeeded. Deviance is now the norm. Lucy Ricardo couldn't say "pregnant", but now we have Madonna making out with Britney Spears. Hollywood's campaign to promote vulgarity, promiscuity, and homosexuality has created an unshockable generation for whom there are no boundaries of good taste or propriety. I'm afraid we have lost, because there is no way to get the genie back in the bottle.

The air waves are a public space similar to say, a village green, town park, or just the corner of Main St. and Maple in any town USA, only this public space belongs to 270 million people. The behavior or what is allowed in such a space should be determined accordingly.

If the behavior allowed in such a space is too permissive, than what you have is government sponsored pornography. If the behavior allowed in such a space too strict, then what you have is government sponsored censorship.

The bottom of the pyramid gets broader as time goes on and the population of the country has doubled since 1963. I have great fear that the situation this article refers to is going to get worse with no signs of turning around. A lot of great people can grow out of the base of the pyramid, but TV plays to the lowest common denominator and the coarsening of American popular is a result. I think that TV does a disservice to young people with dreams and aspirations to make themselves better. Some punk named 50cents is a hero when he was a crack dealer before stringing rhymes together. He'll probably be dead in ten years, but right now he's a pop icon with a mysoginistic view of women.

Now, my personal axe to grind is that popular culture exults youth as if the baby boom will only get bigger as time goes on rather than diminish. These young dopes running the media culture think that I am not important if I'm not twenty years old. Most of the dopes making up the lewd cartoons on tv today are thirty year old homosexuals in Hollywood. That person has no respect for what I do as a father making a happy home that my kids can grow up in, in my opinion. That's who I think are influencing my kids.

I remember that within a couple of weeks after Anita Hill said "penises" on TV, I had heard the word uttered by at least a couple of late-night comics or late-night hosts. She singlehandedly, so to speak, broke that particular taboo.

And shortly after, of course, no episode of "Friends" was complete without at least one "penis."

I do not mind foul language on late evening shows as much as the 'gay agenda' sit-coms in the afternoon. ABC and the other alphabet networks are trolling for new lesbian, gay and bi-sexual converts. Sickening.
