The poll of 787 registered voters used a model for probable voters that assumes a relatively high 50 percent turnout among the state's voting age population

If Busta Man is losing will the rats pull the "No recall" level?

If you just take the Arnold voters who call themselves
conservatives and have them switch to McClintock
McClintock wins in any poll.

Just go look at the itnerals of any of the polling
and look up the conservatives number and how
much is with Arnold and switch them to McClintock
in any of the polls McClintock would be first.

A chance for what?

They have chance to feel good, really good, about themselves. There are standing up for their "principles." It used to be that ultra conservatives were for "doing good." The modern, New Age, Ultra Conservatives are all about "feeling good." They are the 21st century Hippies.

Sorry all you John Wayne (McLintock, McClintock, whatever) supporters.. If BustaMove wins this, it will be because of you folks.

You said it! And thanks for the terrific Miller column :-)

Dennis Miller rules, thanks for the ping.

I originally thought that this was an old newsweek cover of McClintock's campaign. But after reading the article I realized that the people that were being talked about in the article were actually more moderate. . .

McClintock is honest, faithfull husband and father, has courage, has a vision for the state.

Same for me. That doesn't I'd make an effective governor.

Has taken on two endeavors in his adult life and became the biggest success in the world at both of them.

This bears repeating.

Spoken like a true leftist -- trying to read people's motives for the opinions they hold, and then holding them in judgment for your biased conclusions.

That happens to be what I believe is the motivation behind Arnold's support here. In particular, #1 seems to me to be true. Few AS supporters make the claim AS is preferable to TM, they simply claim he's more electable. Yet from what I've seen that premise was arrived at on the basis of little more than conjecture.

It's my opinion that, had folks fought for TM instead of immediately calling for him to leave the race, he could've won. So perhaps in this case expediency replaced the best method. JMO.

What are you claiming does make for an effective Governor?

Being clueless and relying upon advisers who love big
government and higher taxes and spending?

Effective leadership includes the ability to pull a team together to work for common goals, reaching out to others who might not have been with you from the start to build a coalition, the ability to talk over or past the opposition in the legislature and in the media. Tom is a loner, not a team player. He's wonkish, with little ability to attract or reach a broader group of people than his own supporters (as the polls in the recall show). He'll be savaged by the legislature (remember, if not part of the problem, he is part of the fraternity), and the press.

I thought the Green name had something to do with the environment but obviously it’s all about envy.

Truly the best line from the piece at the head of this thread. Notable and quotable!

How so? Arnold isn't ENTITLED to McClintock's votes. He has to earn them. If Arnold doesn't get them, it means he wasn't good enough to earn them.

How so? Arnold isn't ENTITLED to McClintock's votes. He has to earn them.

He has earned them. Since this is an election without a primary, you have to shake out the contenders from the pretenders in some way. Therefore, consider the following as the primary:

Arnold: 36%
McClintock: 18%

That's the primary. In normal circumstances, the party would then unite behind the strongest candidate. You may disagree, but 2/3 of those who favor Arnold or Tom can't be wrong.

Look, I have no problems with Tom at all, I really wish the percentages were reversed. However, the important thing now is to GET THE DEMOCRATS OUT of the State House. So, unite. Tom fought the good fight, but he came up a little short. I don't want to believe the revenge stories, especially considering the LaLaTimes source. However, If Tom maintains his course, there will be no turning back, and he'll no longer have a home in the GOP.

I don't believe in polls outside election day polls. Too many have been wrong in the past. Anyone can still take this. (McClintock, Arnold, Cruz, Davis).

You still are not addressing the fact that ARNOLD not McClintock is the front runner. Front runners do not bow out. HE's AHEAD. McClintock is the one who should bow out.
