69 Cubs "They broke my heart" I hear you and reach out to you in complete compassion and empathy. I was 11 years old at the time. You just don't do that to young boy. Perhaps one day our wounds will heal.

True, people may begrudge the Braves now, but they forget about the 70s and 80s. I remember when Ted Turner managed a game; when our pitcher (Terry Forrester) was so fat that he was invited on David Letterman; Chief Knockahoma; and other low lights.

I am from Columbus, GA. As a kid I could get the Houston Colt games on the radio (WWL New Orleans) and became a fan. My best friend (interestingly)was a Cubbies fan.
Later my home town got a farm team of the Astros (Astros, Mudcats).

This can't be possible!!!
If the Cubbies AND the Red Sox go to the world series, some sort of cosmic inversion will occur - making it possible for both teams to lose simultaneously...
(Ducking flames - ow ow OW!!)
That being said, "Go CUBS"!!

I know, but I couldn't resist throwing a barb.

Laugh while you still can. When we find some players who can play defense, we will have a kik azz team next year...

The starting lineup was from memory. I must have penciled it in on a score card 20 times that summer.

If the Cubbies AND the Red Sox go to the world series, some sort of cosmic inversion will occur - making it possible for both teams to lose simultaneously... Game 7 will go to the 18th inning, and with the game tied, both teams will run out of pitchers. Bud Selig will declare the series a tie. Then, next year, he'll make the results of the World Series determine which league gets the following year's All-Star Game.
It's the only way it can end.

"Don't forget the black cat.." "Who can forget those wild September games against the Cubs? On September 8, Agee gets knocked down at the plate by Cub pitcher Billy Hands and next inning Ron Santo takes one on the wrist while batting against Koosman. Agee smacks a homer, a black cat runs across the field in front of the Cubs dugout, and catcher Randy Hundley is hopping mad at home plate after missing a tag play. In all, Koosman strikes out 13 on the way to a big Mets win. Next night, Fergie Jenkins pitches for the Cubs. Shamsky is caught in a rundown but escapes when the Cubs mess up the play. In this game, Clendenon and Shamsky hit homers to beat Chicago again. When the Cubs leave New York, their lead is down to only a half game over the on-rushing Mets. As seen at the beginning of the tape, the next night the Mets beat the Expos in a doubleheader while the Cubs lose again and the Mets are now in first place to stay!"
