I thought McClintock did the honorable thing and dropped out. He can't win

If he can't win, why did he come within 20,000 votes of being elected controller? Is it because he's too conservative that you don't WANT him to win?

McClintock's poor character rules out his being a conservative. No, I don't want him to run because he's a loser.

A couple points about McClintock's loss in the Controller's race. 1) He lost to a nobody, a complete political novice. In this race, he's running against two somebodies. 2) There's a big difference between the personal qualities necessary to be a Controller, and those necessary to be a Governor. It's the difference between being the head accountant in a company, versus being the CEO. Tom was born to be State Controller. He doesn't have the personal qualities to be the kind of leader in the Governor's office. His tendency to be a Lone Ranger, politically, is concern enough that he isn't enough of a team player and consensus builder that a governor needs to be.
