On the other hand, signing up for phone service is putting out the welcome mat.

Signing up for a phone services is NOT equivalent to putting out the welcome mat. It's equivalent to putting a door on your home so you and your guests can come and go without having to crawl through windows.

This clown thinks the existence of the phone itself is an invitation to all who want to call you. By his logic if you build a home anyone can just come on in at anytime - and you have no recourse to stop them.
