US soldier killed in Kirkuk

A US soldier has been killed and two others wounded during an ambush in northern Iraq.

It's believed a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at their vehicle in the oil-producing city of Kirkuk.

The dead soldier is from the 173rd Airborne Brigade. None of the victims have been named.

The number of US soldiers killed by hostile fire since May 1, when George Bush declared an end to major combat in Iraq, has risen to 86.

Two hundred Americans have died in combat since the US launched military operations in Iraq on March 20.

Damn the Press, why do they continue to keep score? Yes we know, according to them it's Bush's war not ours. Ba$t@rd$!

This is the same as that which was reported on the previous (disappeared) thread this morning--NOT A NEW loss. There was another who died in a non-hostile "fire accident"

May God comfort their families.

53000 days = 145 years.

Quagmire? According to the press, I guess so.

"This is the CBS Evening News, Dan Rather reporting. Earlier today, a man was killed in an automobile accident on Interstate 5, three miles south of Tacoma, Washington. This is the 95th traffic fatality since Washington's Democratic-controlled legislature passed a mandatory seatbelt law earlier this year. In other news . . . "

With all due respect to our dead soldiers, if every traffic fatality were given the same emphasis as each war fatality, this is what the news would look like.

Self-correction:

With all due respect to our dead soldiers, if every traffic fatality were given the same emphasis [and political spin] as each war fatality, this is what the news would look like.
