I feel sorry for her too.

This child was "adopted" ( read BOUGHT) out of a Russian orphanage about 7 years ago.

There is no father, largly because SIL cannot get along with anyone well enough to have a long-term relationship. Money and status is the deal, and the little girl is an accessory.

The poor little girl is better off than she might be, but has no manners, is confused, and does not understand why "Uncle X", "Uncle Y" and "Uncle Z" no longer show up at her house.

Sad.
