Geez, what's the deal? The T-birds were also scheduled (probably another unit) to appear in southern Wisconsin this weekend, but were cancelled just this week, apparently due to the recent crash of one of its birds.

My young family (many years ago) went to a free air show at McDill AFB in Tampa.
The experience and the pictures have stayed with my children into their teens.
Recently my daughter, a new freshman in high school, joined the rifle team to my great surprise. Somehow, somewhere she found motivation to do something above and beyond video games.
I'd like to think it's because she's seen what real patriots look like. Maybe at McDill when she was 4 years old. I know I was impressed beyond belief.

When I was a kid, Eglin AFB used to put on a public firepower demonstration about once a year. They did one for the general public then about a week later just for bigwigs and other invited guests.
It was a truly awesome show. They would have planes bomb strafe and do just about every interesting thing one could imagine for a couple oh hours. They had fake factories etc. which would be napalmed, bombed, rocket attacked and strafed.
They would launch a missle then have another plane shoot it down. At the very start they would demonstrate a bunch of machine guns right up to the vulcan.
One of the more interesting things was to have a plane fly right over the stands and take a picture. Before the show ended a helocopter would land and hand out free copies of the 8X10's which were so detailed you could literally pick yourself out.

This picture was taken a few years back at an air show at Eglin. It is two P-51's flying with an F-16.

Oops! They are flying with an F-15, not an F-16. Interestingly the P-51's were being flown by a general and a colonel while the F-15 was piloted by a captain.
