Here's another criticism of Tom. He is not a team player. And I've heard this as well. If this criticism is a result of his past working performance with others, I think it's a valid concern/criticism. If it's a result of "he's not withdrawing from the recall, therefore he's not a team player" (and there's been a lot of this) then it falls back to my original thought.

I doubt this is a new criticism. I'll bet if we looked at his elementary school report cards, the comments would read something like this:
"Tommy is an excellent student, however he does not play well with the other children."
The ol' 'I'm-gonna-take-my-marbles-and-go-home' syndrome....
To: WillowyDame
that is a low blow. Yeah, I know. I was hoping that would slip by unnoticed.
Like so many terminator and accent digs on Arnold have not.
I understand how this works. Since the McClintock supporters are the protected minority here they cannot be accused of wrongdoing. Got it.
To: B Knotts
GWB has a track record of getting things done, because of his ability to work well with the Dems - take a look at Texas.
Call it what you want, but that ability to be a diplomat and work with others is essential to accomplish anything - especially in CA.
To: CheneyChick
EXACTLY...well stated! McClintock cannot win statewide. He is a great guy..but a vote for him is wasted. Need to UNITE behind Arnold.

The "bashing," as you put it, of Schwarzenegger, has to do with his generally-liberal policy positions, and should be fair game on a "conservative" web site. I agree. I proudly bash Arnold's positions without shame. However, bashing his supporters by calling them RINO's is ridiculous. Granted, there are several non-conservative FReepers on Arnold's side, but there are also many truly conservative FReepers who have logically sound reasons for voting Arnold.
Heck, one of my favorite FReepers to read, Travis McGee is voting for Arnold. While I disagree with him on this, I admit that he is about the furthest thing from a RINO possible.

He is not a team player. When the "team" is the California GOP establishment, I look upon this as a good thing. Team players are the ones who screwed Bret Schundler here in Jersey in '01.

And we have a lot of good things to look at.... My point is that GWB gets things done. Tom would hit a brick wall at every turn. You're obviously not from here and don't understand the prevailing liberal mentality that dominates CA.... When I drive around on the freeway, I see Dean bumper stickers everywhere.
To: CheneyChick
And we have a lot of good things to look at.... In my opinion, Bush has done a tremendous job with foreign policy. Those are the issues he is willing to play hardball with the Dems with and not comprimise much. I just wish he would use that same sort of resolve on domestic issues.

The bashing of McClintock has been personal and Carville-like. So says you.
Some of us have been quite diligent in our policy and performance criticisms of McClintock.
His promises of energy contract voiding, 187 implementation and National Guard at the border were some of the issues that were confronted early on. More recently gaming money and leadership issues have been confronted. Then there is the continuing question about his loyalty to family values.
Tom McClintock voted with the gay and lesbian coalition, CAPE, supported bill SCA 9. His YES vote proposed to give domestic partners the same property tax advantages as married couples on the non-sale transfer of real property.
McClintock refused to leave an Indian Gaming conference and walk across the street to vote against the Domestic Partners Bill, August 28, 2003. 14 other Senators showed up and voted against it.

Then there is the continuing question about his loyalty to family values. So, Schwarzenegger is the pro-family candidate? LOL

But then again, I'm often acused of being a "sodomite apologist" by some of the more rabid anti-gay folks around here.

So, Schwarzenegger is the pro-family candidate? LOL That's the reason you can't have a civil debate. I quote the voting record and you pull out your pre-conceived notions.
To: Ceoman
If all the folks who say they agree with McClintock but are voting for Arnold and 'the win' actually supported the guy they agree with, McClintock WOULD be ahead of Arnold.
To: staytrue
You're right. Although Rudy is more liberal on social issues, he's always been supportive of conservative candidates and a loyal Republican who fights for Republican issues for the most part. I know many conservatives like to slam Rudy as liberal, etc. but to me he's always been a great Republican and doesn't go to war with his own party.
To: RGSpincich
I am simply suggesting that you are being somewhat disingenuous with that particular criticism. While there were bad things about that amendment, it also was good for extended families.

Giuliani did a great job in New York, and I'd vote for him for mayor or maybe for governor against Hillary, but not for Senator--because he's VERY strongly pro-abort and strongly pro-perversion.
To give him credit, he threw his support behind Bill Simon despite their different positions on abortion, and he was loyal to Simon well after Karl Rove and Gerald Parsky pulled the plug on him and caused him to lose. He's one of the few pro-aborts I have some real admiration for in spite of his position.
(Yes, he's so pro-abort that when he was running for governor he refused a deal with the chairman of the NY Conservative party merely to keep quiet about his support for partial-birth abortion.)
