The thing about that is, I recall seeing a documentary on Air Force 1 (aired on PBS) well before 9/11, and the documentary just came right out and said that the shorthand for AF1 is "Angel." I don't think that Angel is some top-secret uber-classified codeword...if it is, something tells me they would have changed it after seeing it aired on PBS.
