MILAN -- Police arrested four people last night for suspicion of dog fighting. Ultimately, only two were charged.
Quantrel Knight, 18, of Rock Island, and a 14-year-old boy are in custody, charged with attempted dog fighting, a misdemeanor.
Police say the dog fight was held in a wooded area off U.S. Highway 67 in Milan. A resident tipped them off, and when Police showed up, they heard dogs yelping and barking and people cheering them on.
Authorities say Pittbull fights are on the rise in both in the rural areas and in the city, but they're tough to catch.
Two pit bulls were impounded by animal control last night, one had bites across his face, as well as a number of scars, suggesting this wasn't his first fight.
