Jesse Jackson has added former Chicago Democratic Congressman Mel Reynolds to Rainbow/PUSH Coalitions payroll.
Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clintons last-minute forgiveness spree.
He received commutation of his six-and-a half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud and lies to the Federal Election Commission.
He is more notorious, however, for concurrently serving five years for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer.
This is a first in American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate, won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate, then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate.
His new job? Youth counselor. Is this a great country?

Black conservative pingIf you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

The Honorable Melvins troubles started in 1995 when he was convicted of having sex with a 16-year-old campaign worker. That charming young girl engaged Mel in phone sex (Hmmm. Where have we heard that before?) and in a conversation pretended she was going to set him up with a 15-year-old acquaintance, a Catholic school girl. Hearing this, the delighted congressman asked: Did I win the Lotto?

"Is this a great country?"
I sense a note of sarcasm there. Look at it this way - the guy won a trifecta of Demo-style exploitation.
Don't begrudge him the pay-off!

Great Catch! You should email this to Bret Hume. It would make an excellent item for The Grapevine.

Note: I don't know how old, but this isn't a new story. Uh... (scans long-since unused memory sectors) ... I think this was originally posted in early 2002, but take that with a salt truck or two.

Interestingly, rmvh has been banned or suspended from FreeRepublic.

And, as I now notice, irrelevant anyway as this is an old story.
