Both McClintock and Arnold did themselves a world of good last night. It was clear that either man was a vast improvement over Davis. The strong performance by both men makes Davis the big loser, here.

That said, while Arnold may have gone a long way towards wrapping up the governorship, McClintock has made himself a potential national star.

Don't think the RNC hasn't noticed him.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

McClintock has probably moved himself up to the top of the list to replace Boxer next year.

2-3 weeks ago, I think McClintock could have written his own ticket in support from the RNC, etc. for the '06 Senate race against Boxer. Today, however, I'm not so sure. Nobody on the Republican side is going to vote for or support somebody with a bunker mentality who might very well cause Cruz Bustamante to be elected Governor in California. So unless something radical happens in the next few days, I consider McClintock's political career on the Republican side to be toast.

Online polls are, as you know, virtually worthless. Notwithstanding, CNN's is a bit telling in this case, i.e., what boobtubers think (which is close to the average mentality of many voters and considering too CNN's normally liberal base bent):,

"The CNN website's poll on who won the debate: Cruz Bustamante 18% 28228 votes Peter Camejo 5% 7500 votes Arianna Huffington 8% 13039 votes Tom McClintock 14% 22525 votes Arnold Schwarzenegger 56% 89399 votes Total: 160691 votes Source: http://www.cnn.com

I note this for the reason that I doubt Arnold supporters slammed this one....

It all depends on how he answers the call to exit next friday.
