It's time for Arnold to stop splitting the Republican vote and step aside for the good of the party

But in the meantime, you'll be happy to take his money and his star endorsement, eh?

Parasite.

After his performance last night, I don't think there's much chance of Bustamante winning the recall. A lot of the votes he might have had a chance of getting will now go to Camejo and Schwarzenegger. As long as McClintock is in the race, Schwarzenegger will seem more centrist, and attract more of those votes.

I think the chances have increased that the recall will fail and Gray Davis will stay in office. If McClintock stays in the race, that means more votes for recalling Davis.

"Has anyone heard an answer yet from Ahnold about how he will pay for the goodies he promised last night:
1) 4,000 miles of new rails and roads
2) Health care for the illegal immigrant children
3) His after school program
4) At least two other new programs he promised
And then cut taxes in half? Quite a Christmas tree.
"

Nope. There is no answer. All of these liberal-sounding projects are simply not going to happen. The money's just not there. Ahnuld can say anything he wants to say...everyone is just overawed by this actor. He's a Democrat, and a rather liberal one, at that. If elected, the state will continue to go down the toilet, and the Republicans will get the blame in 2004. It will help nobody.

Ahnuld should withdraw. Tom McClintock could actually win if Ahnuld wasn't in the race. Personally, I don't think that anyone who actually votes for Ahnuld is a conservative, and I'm always surprised to see how many support him here. Maybe most of them are from other states. I don't know.

One last time: Arnold Schwartzenegger is a Democrat!

If he doesn't bow to reality soon, he'll soon be Don McQuixote, enabler of Cruz.

I've said this before, but I think it's really worth considering what would happen if either McClintock or Schwarzeneggar dropped out. You'd immediately get the Davis smear machine going full throttle against the remaining Republican, and the recall would likely fail. My guess is that Republican chances are best with both McClintock and Schwarzeneggar in the race.

If you elect Arnie, you'll need to correct that statement. Here, let me help:

"....so we can have a Republican Liberal Governor!"

What good is a Republican governor if he is a Democrat?

Well said! We should all practice saying, "Viva Bustamante!"

Alan Colmes had a BIG stupid smile on his face last nite as they discussed the debate. Alan and his Demopuke buddies probably went out to celebrate last nite. The STOOPID party strikes out again.

Unless its all about the take at the gate, which of course it is...

After last night, I'd be less surprised to see the GOP take 1st and 2nd, than I would to see Davis survive the recall.

Looking forward to the next substantive poll.

This one affects everyone.

Yes indeed. We want CA as one of the Red States as Bush heads into 2004.

"I have a suggestion - now that election day is nearing, why don't we let the California freepers work this stuff out? I think it's out of line for non-California freepers who aren't voting to be starting vanity threads on this subject. "
If a busload of insane asylum inmates is commandeered by one of the wackos, jumps the highway median and heads for you, are you claiming only the deranged driver and the nutjobs on the bus have a right to stop the thing? I live in Nevada. I think Nevadans and other Americans have every right to do whatever we have to to keep you guys from taking us down into the gully with you.

If Arnold dropped out, it is doubtful Tom could pull enough centrist voters to stop them from rejecting the recall. Even if he did win, he will have zero ability to work with a Democrat legislature out to gut conservatives. If Tom pulls out now, he gets to be Senator, and will have immense pull. If he stays, Bustamente could well win, but Arnold is likely to pull a plurality. Either way, Conservatives will be blackballed by moderates. So, take your pick, sunny days ahead or a glorious funeral pyre fed by McClintock self-righteousness.

Although a McClintock supporter, I was nonetheless impressed by Arnold's performance last night. I thought he did a real nice job.

The fact remains, however, that CA conservatives deserve an opportunity to vote for someone who will represent their views. Tom isn't taking votes away from Arnold, because Arnold has simply not earned them. It's just as true in the reverse.

I would advise Tom to stick in until the election - you never know what might happen. But I certainly understand your concern.

Who do you prefer? Bustamante or Arnold?

When I had a choice between Jim Hunt and a goofball Republican, I voted for the Libertarian.

If Bustamante is going to win anyway, why bother voting?

Forvige me for commenting on Caaal-e-forn-ee-aahh politics, but I think I am for maximum exposure on this one. By maximum exposure, I mean that it sure would be interesting to see to what depths Grey Davis and the Cal legislature can take California.

After all, the people of Cal elected this bunch of losers....TWICE!, so why not let Gov Davis finish the job. I know it will be painful for some of you, but somewhere, sometime it must be demonstrated once and for all what extreme liberal/communist governance will ultimately lead to......right here in River City.

MYTH: INDIAN GAMING IS COMMERCIAL, FOR-PROFIT GAMING.

FACT: GAMING ON INDIAN RESERVATIONS IS OPERATED BY TRIBES TO FUND GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS.

IGRA requires that all revenues from tribal gaming operations be used solely for governmental or charitable purposes. Much like State Government and the use of funds from 40 state lotteries, Tribal Governments determine how gaming proceeds are to be spent. In direct contrast to the opulent expenditures on yachts and jets by commercial casino operators such as Donald Trump, Indian tribes are using gaming revenues to build houses, schools, roads and sewer and water systems; to fund the health care and education of their people; and to develop a strong, diverse economic base for the future.

MYTH: INDIAN PEOPLE DO NOT PAY TAXES.

FACT: INDIAN PEOPLE PAY ALL TAXES REQUIRED BY STATE AND FEDERAL LAW.

All Indian people pay federal income, FICA and social security taxes. Most Indians also pay state income and property taxes. Only the small percentage of Indians who live and work on federally recognized reservations - not unlike soldiers and their families living on military installations - are exempt from paying state income and property taxes. However, they still pay taxes such as sales and Federal Income tax.

Indian tribes are governments with responsibilities to their citizens, but tribes almost uniformly lack a tax base to support their governmental needs. Some tribes have found in gaming a means to not only provide jobs and economic activity on their reservations, but also a source of badly needed government revenue. As sovereign governments, tribes do not have to pay taxes on their revenues to any other governments. Do states pay taxes on their resources derived from gaming or from any other source? NO!

When Republicans unite, Republicans WIN. When Republicans are divided, democRATS win.

Just so you are aware, you have paraphrased Jesse Jackson, albeit with a different party name in your quote...

Just in case, you might want to gargle some soapy water or peroxide.

But, of course, you are dead on correct, too.

McClintock should bow out, then take on Feinstein (or is it Boxer?) for the Senate seat.

If he stays in, you'll see Cruz as the new Governor, and McClintock's stock go into negative numbers for any future political ambitions...

It's not just what is good for California, it's also what's best for McClintock - he didn't do anything last night other than strengthen his base, no growth - he spoke to his base only.

As much as I want to like him I still wonder if he's in the race for the sole reason to take votes away from McClintock and thereby help Davis. He married into the Kennedy clan for a reason that can't be good for Republicans, IMHO.
