Well for one thing, he can help Bush win next year, who in turn will be able to hopefully appoint some decent judges, unlike most of the judges on the 9th Circus Court!

Just for that aspect alone, a dead Republican is better than MOST demonrats any day of the week!

I am quite aware that I can't stop someone who insists on opining about an election that they're not voting in. However, I hope that some folks will reduce the background noise here so that the California freepers can debate this issue at crunch time among themselves, as they are the ones going to the ballot box in a couple of weeks.

Yes, ma'am, I want my vote to count, and I want it to help account for change. I was delighted at the debate, and the lack of attack by the two (R)s on each other. I'd be delighted to see Arnie as Gov and McClintock as a valuable assistant. I want my vote to count to return California to the great state it was.

I agree that this is a debate that Californians have the most right to argue. I can definately understand the desire to stand on one's principals, but it's much easier to stand up for principals when it's not your own state that's going down the tubes. You Californians must choose between the Republican that would be the best gov, or the Republican that's most likely to win. My only advise is to remember that many Republicans voted for Ross Perot in 92 as a protest against George H. Bush, and it gave Clinton the election. I hope that you don't give the Dems a victory by voting for McClintock, but that's your choice. We wish you luck.

IMO, Ahnuld is just a Democrat in Republican clothing. He supports nothing that is Conservative in nature and much that is Liberal.

Better to vote No on the recall and let Davis take the blame for California's troubles. Ahnuld can't fix any of the problems here, so if he's elected, people will blame the Republicans next year.

At least McClintock is true to his beliefs. Personally, I think we Californians should ask Ahnuld to step out of the race and vote for McClintock.

1) 4,000 miles of new rails and roads
2) Health care for the illegal immigrant children
3) His after school program
4) At least two other new programs he promised

The problem is that given the demographics of the California electorate, the governor will always be a liberal, at least as freepers see it.

I watched the debate last night and thought Tom McClintock did a good job. I think he'd be a good governor. However, he is a career politician, and he did not come across like a leader. In military parlance, he reminded me of a great executive officer or chief of staff, but I just don't seem him as a senior commander. Tom just doesn't offer anything to get the people who don't already agree with him to vote for him. He's a true blue conservative, and that scares a lot of people in California.

Like it or not, most Californians are relatively socially liberal, even if they are fiscally conservative. Or they are like my cousin, who worked for JFK in 1960 and has voted Democrat ever since. Well, this time, she's voting to Recall Davis. I was shocked. She doesn't like Cruz, either. Wants immigration stopped and the mess in Sacramento cleaned up. She'll vote for Arnie, because (1) she thinks he might be effective and (2) he doesn't scare her on social issues. I asked her about Tom, and she said "He's just another politician saying the same things he's said for 20 years. He's a crazy right-winger."

Sports fans, Tom won't ever get her vote, or the votes of the millions of people like her in California. And without a lot of support from Democrats and independents, no Republican can win statewide in California. Arnold, for all his faults, has a shot at getting a lot of those votes. And that's why he can win, where Tom can't. Tom is the flip side of Cruz BustaMEChA: has the core support of the conservative/liberal activists, but doesn't appeal beyond his core constituency.

Tom is beginning to sound like it's more about him than it is about the state. Too much, me, me. My positions, I've said this for years. etc.

If he doesn't bow to reality soon, he'll soon be Don McQuixote, enabler of Cruz.

Cutting taxes will cause a boost in revenue. Cutting programs and waste will free up more. And Infrastructure if done as per usual will pay for itself through use fees.
