"'Sources tell Fox News that the 27-year-old woman could have been beaten, hit over the head, strangled or even poisoned.'

Geez! I had forgotten how little of substance we really know about this case.

As broad as the quote above is, it is too narrow. As far as can be determined at this point, Laci could have, just as easily, been shot or stabbed in the neck, head or main organs soft tissue. So, we have not eliminated even one cause of homocide as a possibility. Also, the defense experts may not rule out accidental death, saying nature took the body parts. Not that I agree;just objectively surmising.

In fact, a person who is epistemologically savy might say: We know that they are dead;Alsowhere and when we found them: That the Husband was at a location near there four months earlier; the day Laci went missing: That the Husband volunteered that information or we probably would not know that.

We do not *know for sure* where, when or how she died, yet we are going to attempt to place a suspect at an unknown location, at an unknown time, and convince a jury that he/she comitted an unknown criminal act with an unknown weapon.

Another potential problem.IMHO, The autopsy report,IIRC, lists Richmond, CA.(area) as the location of death and LE claims Modesto, CA. is the place of death. Therefor, the DA does not know for sure if the suspect is being prosecuted in the proper jurisdiction, which maybe is,why the DA was not too excited about hunting "Dirty" and "Skeeter" initially. He was afraid of loosing jurisdiction if they killed Laci outside Stanislaus County.IMHO

Oh, Ray, she could have died accidentally... or it could have been suicide! But as they said during Chandra Levy's disappearance, "you can kill yourself, but it's hard to hide your body afterwards". LOL.

If my pregnant family member had died accidentally, I'd have called the authorities. Yes, I can hear Scott now, "Okay, I finally want to get this off my chest. She fell off a ladder and died... I was so scared... I didn't think anyone would believe me... so I got rid of the body."

Ahem! Ray, you know truth is stranger than fiction, and the police definitely know that, too!

Enough has been leaked for me to get the impression that police believe strongly that she died in the house. Whatever they know that makes them believe that has been closely guarded. It may be a bombshell!

You're right; we don't really know the time/date of death. I guess the decomposition experts will play a big part in proving that. But then there's also common sense, a commodity that is supposedly in high supply on juries. A pregnant adult talks to her mother at 8 p.m. two days b/f Christmas, and is never heard from again? The odds are astronomical that she didn't live long enough after that to even send at least one last little Christmas wish to Mom.

So I think time/date, and place, are provable as of now. You've sure got a point about "how", though. I can't imagine how. But there was something in that house that seemed to tell them she died there, and IMO that something is related to the "how".

Very good points, about jurisdiction. I'm assuming (hoping) that there is some provision in CA law to handle a situation like that, where one local law enforcement agency had done astronomical amounts of work, only to find that they had to change horses in mid-stream.
