Oh, Ray, she could have died accidentally... or it could have been suicide! But as they said during Chandra Levy's disappearance, "you can kill yourself, but it's hard to hide your body afterwards". LOL.

If my pregnant family member had died accidentally, I'd have called the authorities. Yes, I can hear Scott now, "Okay, I finally want to get this off my chest. She fell off a ladder and died... I was so scared... I didn't think anyone would believe me... so I got rid of the body."

Ahem! Ray, you know truth is stranger than fiction, and the police definitely know that, too!

Enough has been leaked for me to get the impression that police believe strongly that she died in the house. Whatever they know that makes them believe that has been closely guarded. It may be a bombshell!

You're right; we don't really know the time/date of death. I guess the decomposition experts will play a big part in proving that. But then there's also common sense, a commodity that is supposedly in high supply on juries. A pregnant adult talks to her mother at 8 p.m. two days b/f Christmas, and is never heard from again? The odds are astronomical that she didn't live long enough after that to even send at least one last little Christmas wish to Mom.

So I think time/date, and place, are provable as of now. You've sure got a point about "how", though. I can't imagine how. But there was something in that house that seemed to tell them she died there, and IMO that something is related to the "how".

Very good points, about jurisdiction. I'm assuming (hoping) that there is some provision in CA law to handle a situation like that, where one local law enforcement agency had done astronomical amounts of work, only to find that they had to change horses in mid-stream.

Here's something from the CA Penal Code about jurisdiction for murder prosecutions.

That the Husband volunteered that information or we probably would not know that

Maybe SP did NOT volunteer the information....Remember this curious statement from Ridenour?

Scott's father said his son turned over a time-stamped receipt from an automated ticket dispenser at the Berkeley Marina, claiming that the receipt showed that he was there when he said he was on Christmas Eve. Police verified the receipt was authentic, but Ridenour added: "We never said it was a receipt that came from him."

Maybe SP did NOT volunteer the information....

Maybe he didn't volunteer, he had it with him and he had just murdered someone,he could have flipped it....But I know enough to know he did not hide that trip(dam fool)Also Ridenoir did not say it did not come from him either.

Heck he drove up to his house with the boat on the truck that afternoon and had already called that friend of theirs(the couple with a son named Connor,IIRC) ostensibly looking for Laci, and IIRC he told him he had been fishing. I mean,; for whatever reason he did not hide he had gone fishig and maybe he had a reason; we'll see. Please ya'll, remember I am not defending him, But I learned some 40 years ago,If you want to defeat your opposition get to your weak points before he/she does so there are no surprises. If you can defend your weakest point the rest is a relative *ease*. It has worked so effectively in all aspects of my life. RAY

I remember that Statement from Ridenour!! Curious indeed. I think we may be in for a prosecutorial treat. I don't really subscribe to the fact that a person can kill themselves and put weights on all their appendages and throw themselves in Sanfranscico Bay. It's pretty apparent to me, from another statement that Ridenour made, "he said, we have come to believe that Laci died as the result of a VIOLENT crime"!! Where she died and where she ended up is not as important as WHO caused it.

Oh, I know you're not defending him Ray. It's just that that quote has always left me curious as to his first attempt at an alibi to the police.

I picture SP saying: Yes, officers I went fishing just up the road here and look what happens.

Officer: SP we found this Berkeley marina receipt in your trash.

SP: Oops,er, oh, um....yeah that's the ticket, yeah Berkeley right that's where I was. What is this officer....Nazi Germany? The Inquisition? Don't you believe me...sob....hang on officer I gotta call Amb....

I think it's the wrapping in tarps and then duct taping yourself that would also be tough to do if one was trying suicide like that!

"In fact, a person who is epistemologically savy might say: We know that they are dead; Also, where and when we found them: That the Husband was at a location near there four months earlier; the day Laci went missing: That the Husband volunteered that information or we probably would not know that."

Great point - I hope the prosecutors/police have evidence to answer these questions. If they don't I think the establishment of premeditation will be especially important. If they can do that I think the jurors may tolerate some uncertainty as to how, where, and when Laci died.

What do you all make of Frank Muna these days? He seems pretty flaky and I can't see how anything he is doing is helping his client. I'm not an attorney so maybe I'm missing something!?!

Thats a tough one-Premeditation without physical connection will never get capital punishment,IMHO. This case will be overturned at least once, I think. LE has messed up in almost every phase of the investigation, From warrants to wire surveillance to venue(if they don't relocate this trial) to jurisdiction if she was killed outside Stanislaus county. Gotta think about all this!....;-0)

Hi there.... Well, I am not sure after all the stupid posibilities Geragos thru out to the wolves, ie... media of who killed Laci and Conner, he is smart enough to come up ultimately with that kind of scenario. Also, sure if they found evidence that lead to where the murder was committed than Stanislaus would or could hand over the case to Contra Costa County, but from all the news stories, they found evidence in the Peterson home, blood samples taken and other possible incriminating evidence that the crime labs have, and defense because of discovery?

lol....sometimes the lawyers say I should of did this, I should of did that....but they throw on the best they can do, and hope it leads to all the facts, conviction, or aquittal.... ;o)

If LE could prove that Laci died in the house, Scott would have been arrested long long before he was. Also, any evidence especially blood from the second Peterson house warrant will be thrown out for several reasons.(see my prior posts on this warrant)If they allow evidence from that warrant in, the feds will surely overturn if it is signifigant to the verdict,IMHO.

Further if the prosecution had any connective evidence from the house, Brazelton would have let MPD arrest Scott on April 4th without a body like they wanted to, but he said he could not connect scott to the crime,so he refused. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.....;-)

Regarding jurisdiction, proper jurisdiction can be:

-the county in which the fatal injury was inflicted, OR

-the county in which the victim died, OR

-the county in which the body was found.

RB, according to the link I found (see Post 303) I don't think they have jurisdictional problems. And if they did, there is such a thing as a transfer.

I don't think there is much sympathy for Peterson anywhere, let alone Stanislau or Contra Costa Counties. I don't see how the Detectives messed this case up??? I have always had the impression that they were actively working this case and that this case, for some reason, had become personal to them. They have done amazingly in keeping their evidence quiet. No major leaks at all. Maybe I'm by myself here, but I expect Peterson to be convicted. There is a heap of circumstances to the degree that they cannot innocently be explained away. Then there is some physical evidence.Last but not least, none of us know for sure what gems were harvested from his computer hard drives OR from the wire taps.!!

I was just throwing that out there from Stockhrse's comments, and twirling it some....lol... Yep, I think they have the murder being committed in the home, based on NE stories, and other sources... It was after the fact of scaughty disposing of the body to the ocean's floor, that wouldn't give jursidiction to COCO County.... :o)
