To: Chancellor PalpatineSchwarzenkennedy reminds me of a puppet on a string with his demoRat \ RINO handlers calling all the shots.
I'm sure this was most appearant to you when Tom McClintock said to another candidate, "On this issue Arnold is right..."
An empty-headed, blank slate with muscles that his demoRat handlers fill with fanciful socialist nostrums. His worshipful followers are nothing but a bunch of star-struck rubes, easy marks for Warren Buffet and company.
This empty headed blank slate came to this nation with nothing and is now worth $200 million. Tell us what you have done that equals that. We're listening.
I will laugh if Schwarzenkennedy's cult of personality wins the recall election.
It will be lots of fun to see his cult followers try to defend every far-left, anti-conservative socialist policy his administration will churn out.
Listen ace, you may not like him and there are parts of his policy I don't like, but I am going to vote for him. He will be far superior to the idiots on the other side of the isle. As for defending things he does wrong, I won't defend them anymore than I will things Bush does that are wrong.
Why don't you put a sock in it until you're able to face reality.

True, Bwitch Shrillery Antoinette de Foserizer de Marx de Kevorkian de Machiavelli de Stalin de Sade's
expertise in the details of rampant treasonous, felonious, goon-executed destructiveness
remains unmatched in modern politics.
But I think we need to work more to insure the vast middle of the roaders are aware of her skillful detailed work toward the destruction of The Republic.

McClintock may not be a pretty boy (although I think he's kinda cute); he stands alone as the most professional, statesmanlike and brilliant candidate. Yahoo! www.helptom.com

...the ability to get things done (which Arnold definitely has) trumps detailed knowledge (which, though necessary, can be bought) every time in politics. One person said the following earlier - Intellectuals are a dime a dozen, but real leaders are rare and should be nurtured and treasured.

I, too, think Tom McEgo could add a lot of technical expertise to Arnold's governing.
But I think it will take conservatives much more in touch with Arnold and much more authentically REAL in perceived personna to influence Arnold more toward conservative values.

Right. None of them ever were in debates and none of them were ever elected to office.

This was clear months ago.
Sadly, too many other issues become moot in the face of this one.

"One person said the following earlier - Intellectuals are a dime a dozen, but real leaders are rare and should be nurtured and treasured." I, for one, detect your situational ethics-based 'spin'.
You should work in the White House Press office.
I would wager you would turn the tables in your argument, and that if it were McClintock who was the one to be vague without details and, on the other hand, Schwarz who was factual and comprehensive, you would say that McClintock was stupid, and that your man, Arnold, was so much more in control and in command of the facts, a real leader, and so on so on blah blah blah.
Yeah, right. Spin. Spin. Spin.

Stevenson couldn't overcome Ike's "can do" spirit. Carter was probably the worst president of modern history, and everybody figured out what he was by the middle of his term, crushing him in the end. Gore brought practically nothing to the Clinton 92 and 96 tickets (lets face it, how many of us vote the VP choice anyway?), and Dukakis was mocked everywhere.

McClintock may not be a pretty boy (although I think he's kinda cute); he stands alone as the most professional, statesmanlike and brilliant candidate. Who ever said the most qualified can, or should, win?
Politics is about being "likable." Clinton won, even though he was a scumbag, because he was liked by the sheeple. Many don't follow politics and they vote for the guy or gal they would most like to have lunch with. In '92 Bush the Elder came across as stuffy and out of touch with the "common man". Clinton played the saxophone. In '80 Jimmy Carter was seen as intellectual, but Reagan was friendly and a good communicator. In '60 Nixon lost to the likeable JFK.
An ideal politician is one who is well liked, but smart enough to have intelligent people on his team. Ahnold would be wise to bring McClintock onboard - after the election - to assist in the economic rebuilding.

I am the only candidate at this table who has signed a no-tax pledge. I am the only candidate at this table who supports Proposition 54 to stop the government from racially classifying every one of us. I'm the only candidate at this table that supports the California Republican Assembly's referendum to stop the bill that gives driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. I'm the only candidate at this table who's pro life. I'm the only candidate who supports the entire Bill of Rights, including our Second Amendment. And I'm the only candidate who for 20 years in the public arena has proposed and fought for precisely those fiscal forms that are desperately needed to straighten out this state's finances. Now, we over the years have always been disappointed by politicians who make a promise and don't carry through on it. We've seen a lot of campaign promises made and broken just in the span of this very brief campaign. There's one thing friend and foe alike agrees about Tom McClintock, and that is when I make a promise, I keep it. I steer a straight course and I stay that course no matter what the pressure. And here's my commitment to the people of California: I will cut spending and balance this budget without a tax increase, and that is a promise. That was a good narrative.
I hope Arnold paid close attention to it.
It's still a moot point vis a vis the vast masses in the middle of the California electorate.
Tom McEgo is still seen as far, far too right of center to be remotely tolerable for millions to vote for. Just a fact.

Here is an interesting comparison - can any FReeper within the wildest stretch of imagination claim that the Gipper was a detail guy? He had broad ideas as to direction, and moved the public there without getting bogged down. Dubya is cut from that cloth as well. Both Reagan and President Bush delegate. They didn't get bogged down in running each and every agency, down to the number of pencils at each desk (think Jimmah Carter).
McClintock, like Bustamante, came off as policy wonks. They do know their stuff, but they sounded more like "inside the Beltway" detail guys. Frankly, McClintock was just downright boring and bland in his presentation, and Bustamante was condescending. Camejo was just his own Green self. Arnold showed up, didn't disgrace himself, knew enough about the topics to not embarass himself, and entertained us while jousting with that nitwit Huffington.
With California rivalling Mass for being the most liberal state in the country, that either McClintock or Arnold are polling well in the state is surprising. However, with Issa, Ueberroth & Simon throwing their support behind Arnold, Arnold may have a fighting chance to pull this out IF McClintock pulls out and throws his support to Arnold. Whether McClintock will--and if his supporters will support Arnord--is another question.
One can look to Ventura's win in Minnesota. He effectively set the Dem and the Rep against one another--along with having a brilliant ad campaign--and won. His win has no bearing on his success (or lack thereof) as governor. But Ventura was an "out the mainstream" pol, like Arnold, and that was his appeal.

McClintock did better in the debate and has better solutions so you are therefore going to vote for Ahnold.Makes sense. But Ahnold had better ideas than Cruz so you should therfore vote for Cruz. But Cruz was better than Arianna so you should...
To: Sabertooth
Tom solidified some of his support with that closing statement, but I guarantee you that he scared some people off with it, too.
I don't think he was correct in stating that he was the only candidate opposing the licenses for illegals. Arnold got into quite a fight with Miss Annoying over that matter last night.

I'm not going to vote for anyone in this election. I was expressing my opinion as to how Californians are going to vote, based on what happened last night.
