That's interesting, but using the same standard for consanguinity would have made human reproduction impossible in most communities throughout history, inlcluding today.
But as you point out, Tay-Sachs screening is done before marriage, so it's a bogus excuse for murdering your own children.

I wasn't using Tay-Sachs as a rule or standard of consanguinity. I say it is simlar to a consanguinity rule in that it marks impermissible genetic closeness.
I don't know who uses it as a bogus excuse for murdering his kids, although kids who have Tay-Sachs trait usually die within 2 years of age.
