http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/988580/posts What about this promise?
====
"When I talked to Tom even before he got in, he told me a couple of things that when you have these kind of conversations you never forget," Issa told Hannity.
"He said, 'Look, I'm not going to be in this race if it's not a crowded field. I know the numbers for a conservative. And I'm not going to stay in and be a spoiler.'"

Hannity wants to strangle him.......
Someone tell Hannity that there's a line and that he's at the end of it.
To: CheneyChick
And Tom and Burton differ widely on their phone call. I suspect that Issa is fed up with McClintock. Frankly, I don't believe a word he says.

It's too bad. He did a good job at the debate, but he's a bit too bullheaded. I think this attitude hurts him - big time. He has a lot of potential.... but he's blowing it.

There is some wiggle room even in this statement if you think about it.
Schwarzenegger tonight basically offered to include McClintock in his administration if McClintock drops out. If he drops out, but is part of Schwarzenegger's team, wouldn't he still be "in it?"
Just some of my paranoid ramblings; nothing to see here.
I frankly am torn. Schwarzenegger did look better tonight than he has in most of his hapless campaign. And he did make the offer to McClintock, which I thought was classy and is at least a bone thrown to conservatives, which is more than they've seen thus far.
On the other hand, tonight's debate made it clearer than ever that McClintock is the most qualified of the candidates to straighten out California's government.

He is out for himself. Not the party. He is deluding himself if he thinks he can win. He will not win. He will cause the Republicans to lose.
