I think it's more a matter of being pushed to it. Personally, I couldn't care a less when I was younger about being an altar boy. ALl I wanted to do was sing in the choir - and yes, that was allowed. it was understood that there were just some things that were the boys' domain. That was one of them. I didn't have a problem with it then and don't now.

The thing that needs greater attention here - Eucharist being stolen or Consecrated for black masses - is being overlooked due to this topic. Frankly, it was a caving in in the first place and never should have been allowed to happen.
