I'd have to disagree. For a very long time, men held all the political power (and still hold an awful lot of it). It is primarily men who have changed public policy and law which facilitated the movement along the 'feminist' line. At the time, they probably thought they were doing the right thing.

Do you really imagine the fact they were male has anything to do with the fact they did as their constituency directed them?
