From Peter Robinson to Hugh Hewitt. I had no idea how to search to see if this had been discussed, so apologies if it already has been brought out. The Lincoln Club endorsed Arnold.

One minor problem...political candidates do not normally bow out of the race on behalf of others in their party if the others are losing to them by a substantial margin...not even if they're actors running their first political campaign. McClintock is well behind both Schwarzenegger and Bustamante in all polls. The only question is whether Arnold or Cruz is the leader. Any poll assuming as a condition that Schwarzenegger quits on behalf of McClintock is (for now, and most likely for the duration of the campaign) not dealing with political reality. Peter Robinson is an old political pro and ought to know better than this. And frankly, a lot of amateur political consultants here on FR ought to know better.

Both Arnold and McClintock on the Republican side at least have a chance to win. You may argue this point if you wish.

I am looking at the 4% for Huffington and the 3% for "others." These folks don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning here. I would like to see them all drop out and blow away a little of the fog covering this thing. We would all get a little clearer picture should this happen. But then I suppose they will stay in because "it will look good on their resumes."

Yeah, but they didn't count on the alien support group for Arnold. The headline on the Globe or some such grocery line mag this weeks shows a grey shaking hands with Arnold. Hey, greys can vote under Davis. Arnold for a peaceful universe!

If Arnold Schwarzenegger found himself in a head-to-head race against Cruz Bustamante--that is, in effect, if Tom McClintock dropped out of the race--then Schwarzenegger would win, 44 to 37 percent.

Wasn't this the spread in the poll released yesterday? Even with McClintock in the race, Arnold beats Cruz by 7% (or was it 8%?).

Does this poll take into account the 700,000 absentee votes that have already been cast? Wouldn't that large number mean that a "true" 1-on-1 matchup can no longer be considered in such a poll? Is it statistically significant? Does it approach the MOE?

Many of us knew this all along. Schwarzenegger should drop out. He's too liberal, and unqualified.

The Arnold groupies made such a FATAL ERROR RIGHT FROM THE GET GO by spitting in the face of conservatives. They could have had it all. But there's not a conservative bone in their collective bodies. NO REPUBLICAN CAN WIN IN CA WITHOUT THE CONSERVATIVE BASE. Go, McClintock! www.helptom.com

Why not post the margin of error? It's usually about 3 percent. If it is the usual number it's a toss up with McClintock. With all of the dead/illegal DemocRATs voting that would give Bust-a-move the win.

Go with a Republican in CA rather than vote for the McClintock/Bust-a-move ticket.

The only way you win with McClintock is to go to the $2 window and bet on him to "place"

Check the Vegas odds

That should fix the California economy

But "the machine" has not turned on McClintock . Indeed, the media and others tools of the left are supporting McClintock and trumpeting every small rise in the polls. Our political enemies know that the best case scenario is that McClintock splits the vote or better, Arnold drops out leaving them free to unload on McClintock with the usual ultrarightwingconservativeantichoicehomophobechildhater rap.

What would the polls say after that?

The list continues to grow, the caucophoney echoes:

NEWSMAX.COM - McClintock can't win
REALCLEARPOLITICS.COM - McClintock can't win
CALNEWS.COM - McClintock can't win
CALIFORNIA INSIDER - Arnold may be better off if (McClintock) stays in for awhile (imho)
Hugh Hewitt (KRLA) - McClintock can't win
Al Rantel (KABC) - McClintock can't win
Frank Pastore (KRLA) - McClintock can't win
Brian Whitman (KABC) - McClintock can't win
Laura Ingraham - McClintock can't win
John and Ken Show (KFI) - McClintock can't win
Bill Handel (KFI) - McClintock can't win
Mr. KABC - McClintock can't win
Larry Elder - McClintock can't win
CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN PARTY - McClintock can't win
Sean Hannity - McClintock can't win
JIM BRUELTE CA. REP. ASSEMBLY - McClintock can't win
- ENDORSES ARNOLD ROGER HEDGECOCK - McClintock can't win
DARYLL ISSA (and Tom's Friend) - McClintock can't win

I mean, at what point will you TOMBOTS realize that losing with your purist principles will SUCK?

What's going to be more tragic? That the Recall succeeds and BustaMECHA wins? That the recall fails and Arnold wins because Republicans chose to vote against the recall rather than let BustaMECHA get in? That your boy TOM will NEVER BE ELECTED TO A SERIOUS STATEWIDE OFFICE IF HE DOESN'T TAKE IT FOR THE TEAM?

So this poll still states Tom is the second Republican choice...

No surprise.

After this race, expect him to be the invisible man!

Desperation is an ugly emotion.

This poll suggests Arnold can win handily and Tom would tie.

It's funny how TomBots have been saying all along the polls didn't matter until they finally found one they agreed with. lol!

... the poll includes the following results: If Arnold Schwarzenegger found himself in a head-to-head race against Cruz Bustamante ... then Schwarzenegger would win, 44 to 37 percent. But if Tom McClintock found himself in a head-to-head race against Cruz Bustamante ... then McClintock would win, 42 to 40 percent.

ROFL!
