I saw Sonic Youth at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival a couple of years ago, and they stunk. Completely boring. Too much pot, not enough talent.

Not enough talent? You wouldn't know it if was blasting your ears out.

Sonic Youth were easily one of the top 5 most influential bands of the 80s. Their output in the 90s remained strong, while breaking underground bands into the mainstream. For example, they were instrumental in introducing Nirvana to the hordes of joyous frat boys who don't get exposed to music that isn't played on corporate radio.

PS, they now have a fulltime 5th member in Jim O'Rourke. He's a great musician and producer in his own right (produced Wilco's latest album). SY's 2003 release was a damn fine album. Get some education because your ignorance is on full display.
