We did not have a free press in those days so I cannot say that it was reported on TV or in the three major weekly news magazines that the Administration was activity involved. But it was known and accepted on the street that the Kennedys approved / ordered the killings.
As I recall there was a mainstream build up to the event. To wit, daily film of Buddhist unrest and regime bashing commentary. This was pointed out in the WND article.
I didn't google for the year it happened but when the war was going 24/7 the same media started in again on the South Vietnam regime. (Never a bad word about the North.) Their demands for democracy and elections led to a U.S. imposed countrywide election. Then the media started in again. . . .
Years later the American press got their hero button from North Vietnam general Giap as his best guerilla. Giap's most "trusted man in America" Walter Cronkite's medal was weighed down with stars, clusters, and kisses.
