I fear we are witnessing a new paradigm for the state dealing with those elderly and infirm whom the state no longer wants to spend funds life supporting, and the level of aliveness is to be a state defined convenience. That Terri's plight is occurring in Florida (with the large elderly population) ought to scare the dickens out of Americans. But it doesn't appear to even be on the political radar! One Judge Greer is about to execute an alive, sentient, albeit disabled, woman, setting a precedent that will be horrific in scope once relied upon, all on Jeb Bush's watch, sadly.

Hubby and attorney have tried THREE TIMES and counting now, FOUR TIMES to fulfill their wishes, not Terri's. At one point, Terri was not given any nutrition or water for 60 hours. Somebody ordered that she be fed. Husband said something like "we were almost there."

That was in 2000 but don't hold me to it.

I agree.....except it is not really setting a precedent at all. Christine Busalacchi, for instance, was far more functional than Terri and the fight to save her was much larger. There have been many others, elderly who could speak well,for instance.

Terri is yet one more in a line of many who have been dehumanized and scheduled to die for being disabled.

I still say the best way to bump yourself off is to listen to Sheryl Crow songs for a few hours straight non stop. After the sugar in your body reaches toxic levels from hearing the "sunny de-lite" type commercial songs, your head will expolde from the overload of pretentiousness.
