But after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington on September 11 that year, Pilger claimed Rice said the US "must move to take advantage of these new opportunities" to attack Iraq and claim control of its oil.

Tinfoil hat alert! When I can go to my local Chevron and get free gas, I'll believe this. Let's take a look some of the other emissions from the genius John Pilger (Hidden Agendas: The Films and Writing of John Pilger):

1) Who are the Extremists: Writing in the Daily Mirror, John Pilger identifies the root cause of the bloody bombing of the UN compound in Baghdad, which Washington and London have blamed this on 'extremists from outside'. What they don't say, of course, is that the unprovoked and illegal invasion of Iraq, based on deception and causing thousands of deaths, was the work of extremists from outside - Bush and Blair; and it is the consequences of this crime that have beckoned other extremists to bring their jihad to Iraq.

2) Breaking the Silence: [more like breaking wind, but anyway] Pilger decides that "In 'liberated' Afghanistan, America has its military base and pipeline access, while the people have the warlords who are, says one women, 'in many ways worse than the Taliban'". [Pilger has a major case of "pipeline envy"]

Blah, blah, blah. Yawn. Pilger is simply a Noam Chomsky wannabe. He and his twin brother, Robert Fisk, are mental midgets. Their greatest desire in life is to get together for a menage-a-trois with Arafat.

You can read Pilger's interview of Noam Chomsky online. It's like Couric interviewing Hillary!
