Clark 'chose Democrats after White House brush-off'

By David Rennie in Washington
(Filed: 23/09/2003)

General Wesley Clark, who soared to the head of the field for the Democratic presidential nomination after his late entry to the race, found his momentum checked yesterday by a string of leaks aggressive even by Washington standards.

Senior Republicans revealed details of an extraordinary conversation in which Gen Clark, a decorated Vietnam veteran and former Nato supreme commander, complained that he had wanted to be part of the Republican Bush administration, but switched party after being given the brush-off by the White House.

The latest edition of Newsweek magazine reports that - after the Sept 11 attacks - Gen Clark thought he would be invited to join the Bush administration's national security team.

However, the proposal was reportedly squashed by the White House political chief, Karl Rove.

A furious Gen Clark apparently told two prominent Republicans: "I would have been a Republican, if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls."

Challenged by Newsweek, Gen Clark insisted his remarks were merely a "humorous tweak".

"Karl, pickup it's Wes"

"Karl...I know you're there...Pick up! It's Wes"

"dammit Karl...Pick up!"

White house records show no attempt on the part of Clark to contact Carl Rove. Game over.

A great example of "addition by subtraction." The Clark reminds me of an old beast named Crowe. But I believe that Clark is less intelligent and less trustworthy.

Another "Hinbenberg Moment" for dwarf number 10.

Another "Al Gore Moment" is what came into my mind. What's next, is Clark going to claim he invented the US Army?

I was sorta refering to the going down in flames... That this guy could have made 4 star is not a good reflection on the military, IMHO. Where's the integrity? Can he even spell honor?

Except FOX News reported today that:

Where have we heard this story before? Perot was supposed to have been rebuffed by GHW Bush & wasn't given a job in his admintration. To get even the little big eared pr*ck gave the election to clinton. I believe Perot did it but I can't say I believe this tale of Clark's.

Most believable. Everyone who wanted "to be part of the Republican Bush administration" voted for Clinton in '92 and '96, and for Gore in 2000.

I got you now. I still, however, do hold onto my Al Gore comparison. General Clark does seem to be very truth-challenged.

Unfortunately, the military is very much like many private corporations in that, while there are some people who make it to the top ranks of management on actual accomplishments, there are at least as many who make it on nothing more than their ability to kiss ass and backstab their rivals.

The lib/dems and Clark deserve each other. He fits right into their "no integrity" agenda. Good luck to all of them. ROTFLMAO

That is b.s. pure and simple.

The clintons own clark body and soul. He is a whooly owned subsidy of the clinton crime cartel.

If clark was a vehicle, the clintons name would be on the title.

If he was a house or a piece of real estate, the clintons name would be on the deed.

clark is nothing but a piece of property of the clinton crime machine and their bidding and their bidding alone will he do.

That sounds like Hillary. He could also get several ghost writers to write his books.

Clark is a four-star General. If I remember correctly, an officer of that rank can be recalled into the active service at any time, even after they have "retired."

The Bush adminstration should call General Wes back into active duty and post him to northern Alaska. D.E.W. line. That will shut him up.
