Clark has a strange quality - the more people will see of him, the less they will want to see of him.

Regardless, Bush & Co haven't done much to respond to criticsm the dems have been firing his way since Spring. He has to fight back - I'm glad this is Sept 2003, not Sept 2004!

The WashPost/ABC Poll, and Quinipiac have Bush beating his challengers by double digits.

Either the Post and Quinipiac poll OR the Gallup Poll is publishing a BS poll.

They can't both be right - so which do you believe???

I'd toss out the quinnipac poll, they are lame.

I bet the truth is closer to Wash Post/ABC. But I can't be sure.

Clark 49% - W 46%
Ferry 48% - W 47%
Dean 46% - W 49%
Dickey 46% - W 48%
Loserman 47% - W 48%

Now let me get this straight .... 5 of the candidates are dead even with W ... did the audience change at all who were being asked? Or does all this say is that the audience polled were about 50/50 Democrat / Republican leaning ...

I just find it rather humorous that one can have a poll with the result of 5 candidates who can match or beat Bush. It just don't add up ... the construction of the poll sort of has an aroma about it if you know what I mean.

48% of those polled have never heard of Clark, only 39% have a favorable opinion of Clark presumably of the 52% who have heard of him. Yet 49% of the respondents cast their vote for Wesley Clark. That should tell you two things, one is that those respondents are from the left side of the Bell Curve and the second is that Gallup used a sample overweighted with committed democrat voters. There is no other explanation for those three numbers.

Quinipiac was about in line with the ABC poll.

But both of those skew left, along with Newsweek, so Bush is probably stronger than these polls show (And they already show he's pretty safe).

Why not? "Unnamed Democrat" does better than the actual candidates in head-to-head matchups, and if 90% of the people don't know anything about Clark, he has essentially become "Unnamed Democrat."

His numbers will go down when people start noticing the actual guy hiding behind the resume. He's an awful candidate.

"Gallup has a better record than WP"

Come on - Clark has at BEST 10% name recognition.

How could he POSSIBLY be at 49% already?

THis poll is BS and you know it.

Clark is the "flavor of the day"... The Sheeple will tire of him in time.

However, there is a definite trend to Bush's polling numbers, and they all point downwards.

Definite similarity to what happened to his father after Gulf War I...

Dean is doing great. No one has a read on him yet. Not Bush, not the Clintons. They are all bulloxing it up.

And how much money has Clark raised in contributions? I guess this guy is so popular that he won't have to do any advertising or any other campaigning. This guy is an obvious shoe-in, poor Bush, I think I'll ask for a refund of my contribution.
