University Prods Women to Dress Modestly - raffle off diamond and gold jewelry to coeds

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Appalled by female students who wear short, tight school uniforms, a Bangkok university is planning to raffle off diamond and gold jewelry to coeds who dress more modestly.

Bangkok University deputy rector Suree Buranathanit said "well-dressed" students would be picked every month to become eligible for a lucky draw at the end of the school year, the Bangkok Post newspaper reported Sunday.

Thai college students are required to wear white shirts and black skirts or trousers. Most students flout the dress code by wearing tight blouses and revealing slit skirts, Suree said.

She said such uniforms were inappropriate and could distract male students, adding that the desire to be trendy "may put them in danger."

The university is offering three sets of diamond pendants and gold necklaces worth $118 to $160 to encourage students to dress less provocatively.

But the Bangkok Post said a random sampling of opinion found that students would not be swayed by the contest, and would continue to dress in fashionably tight attire.

I was going to ask that very same question. Young Thai ladies in tight blouses and slit skirts. C'mon! :)

How can I condemn this scandalous attire without seeing photos of these shameless vixens?

The girls at Nassau are gorgeous, all of them. In fact the construction of the G building was said to have been delayed because the work crew spent more time oggling the girls. No one really dressed slutty, but close. By the standards of this university, it would be slutty though. I wore black at Nassau. That's because I wanted to blend in with my people, the hackers, social misfits, boys in the physics buildings, and other social undesirables.
