Okay, but, kemosabe is a hollwood made up word used in the Lone Ranger series.

Yes it is made up. The Times reporter in question coined it after "Speleologist" which was a person who studied caves scientifically. No term existed for "Sport Cavers" so he made up the word Spelunker.

The term stuck to the chagrin of those who were labeled as such.
