...I'm afraid the news media are hurting our chances...

A RAT telling the truth? Could be as valuable as a cheap French whine...

"The falsely bleak picture weakens our national resolve, discourages Iraqi cooperation and emboldens our enemy."

I see what you mean by DNC talking points in the article.

The above quote is one Congressman Marshall might bring to the attention of SINator Kennedy.

Bump quote:

My own unscientific surveys told me the same thing. With virtually no exceptions, hundreds of Iraqis enthusiastically waved back at me as I sat in the open door of a helicopter traveling between Babylon and Baghdad. And I received a similar reception as I worked my way alone, shaking hands through a large crowd of refinery workers just to see their reaction.

It's too bad that we can not hold these media people accountable for what they say and the direction that they try force the people to take...

At one time the media was a blessing to this country, today they are a curse.

They were intended to be the watchdogs of the public interests, today they are more corrupt than any politician, so cynical they leave nothing but damage and destruction in their wake.

The Iraq war has predictably evolved into a guerrilla conflict similar to Vietnam.

I wish they would stop doing this ..

Yes, we are in a serious war .. but it is nothing like Vietnam

And this Congressman is absolutely right. All the negative reporting is dropping the support for the war here at home. It made me sick to read about soldiers, during the major military operation, who were concerned about what the people thought back at home. The soldiers are scared of a Vietnam syndrome wherein they are not respected and the nation is not grateful for their service. The press is aiding and abetting that sentiment. It's disgusting.
I HATE THE PRESS!

One of the military analyst was on TV this morning and mentioned how he just got back from Iraq and said he was surprised at how well things were going over there compared to what the Press has been reporting

He then made a very good point. He said there are 26 million Iraqis and only 140,000 of our troops there and that if the Iraqi people really didn't want us there .. there would be no way we could stay there .

U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall (D-Ga.) of Macon, a Vietnam combat veteran, is a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

While I wonder why he's a Democrat, I'd still like to shake his hand and thank him for telling the truth, something the Dems no longer do in any capacity.

Could someone post his phone number, address, email?

Wow, I must be clairvoyant or something as I was just thinking this very same thought yesterday. Should have posted it to prove it, but I was!

Not to mention that 2/3 of the Iraqi people want us there and 2/3 say overthrowing Sadaam was the right thing to do. Not sure what the other 1/3 think but I don't think it's entirely anti-US sentiment. The press is playing with fire here. Where are the embeds? They used them during the war, they should certainly be there now. The embeds saved the reporting of the war as that was definitely negative except for the embeds.
