Elite IDF troops backed by tanks and jeeps surrounded a small building in the West bank city of Hebron early Monday, after a wanted Palestinian fugitive ran inside the house and took it over.
The incident started at 02:00 Monday morning when troops entered the city to arrest fugitives when suddenly they were fired on from a building in the southern part of the city. Troops surrounded the building and called on residents to come out.
Most of the residents complied, and immediately afterwards more shots were fired from the building at IDF troops. The residents said that a masked, armed gunman had entered the building threatening the residents at gunpoint, shortly before the troops arrived.
Troops returned fire with light and heavy weapons. The gunfight lasted most of the night, with troops repeatedly calling on the gunman to give himself up.
The building, home to a few families, belongs to Akram Shahin, an Islamic studies teacher whose son, Karim, is a Hamas terrorist.
After the building was demolished, the gunman's body was discovered. The IDF is still not sure of the identity of the gunman inside.
Troops and the gunman exchanged fire, and the IDF fired shells at the house. There were no injuries to the troops.
Israel Radio reported Monday that the security establishment has registered 42 terror warnings throughout the country today.
Think the terrorist picked that building at random? All terrorists are islamic!
The residents said that a masked, armed gunman had entered the building threatening the residents at gunpoint, shortly before the troops arrived.
After the building was demolished, the gunman's body was discovered. The IDF is still not sure of the identity of the gunman inside. So they destroyed the house after a criminal bolted inside it and threatened the residents at gunpoint. If the police in the US did something like this 90% of the people here would be screaming about the JBTs.
