"All you Arnie-bots tell me again how McClintock will be supported for U.S. Senator if he just steps down now."

He dosn't need to be Governor to run all the initiatives and referendums he says he will need to do as Governor to get things straightened out.

So-lets see just what he gets accomplished, then let him come back and ask us again.

But if he plays out being Perot - I don't think anything can save him. A shame really, but he will bring it on himself.

McClintock, a longtime state legislator from Thousand Oaks Elk Grove, a suburb of Sacramento.

If the reporter can't even get this right, how accurate do you think the rest of the article is? Turns out Tom Terrific is a neighbor of Busta-Chops - no wonder they confer with each other on their respective strategies to defeat Arnie.

I betcha if you asked any of constituents last week where he lived, the vast majority would have assumed right there in the Conejo valley. Can't see how he can ever run for elective office from T.O. again after this affair is over.

Well, I was always taught that when someone quits arguing the facts and starts attacking me personally, I've won.

G'night!

bolding mine

Take a look here:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/986805/posts?page=45#45

It's a post about republicans who block Arnold's tax increases being threatened with their political lives, just like you're doing here to Tom.

And here's yet another one folks.

Tom has my vote no matter what the polls say, as far as i'm concerned, Busto and Arnold are equals, the only difference is Arnold has a R after his name which in some ways makes him worse than Busto.

He has mine no matter what too. He has my vote and yes, I agree the only difference between Arnold and Cruz is the " R". Maybe a third party will be our only answer!!!

Thanks again for the smart-mouth comments, South40. The RINO wing of the party is always there.

Weren't you backing George Christopher here in 1966?

I believe that some supporters of both Schwarzenegger and McClintock have forgotten two important things that must result from the recall:

(1) Gov. Gray Davis MUST be defeated in the first part of the recall. If Davis remains in power, California will continue its gradual descent to hell.

(2) Lt. Gov. Bustamante CANNOT become the new Governor of California. If he is elected, he will be as bad as Davis, if not worse.

While virtually all of Arnold's and Tom's supporters agree on those two things, the key question between the two camps remains: Who would make a better governor, McClintock or Schwarzenegger?

Three key facts need to be considered when making this choice:

(1) The state of California needs a fiscal conservative at this time to fix the budget crisis for the upcoming budget years.
(2) The California GOP party needs someone to rally around.
(3) The main Republican candidate going against Bustamante in the recall must be electable.

I believe that for this time and place in history, Arnold Schwarzengger would be the best choice. While Arnold isn't a social conservative; he does support some fiscal conservative policies, the California GOP can rally around him, and he is electable.

If Arnold is elected governor, he will need someone to head an audit of the state's finances to slash the budget. Enter Tom McClintock. Tom would gain a high profile as an unelected state comptroller and advisor to Arnold, while Arnold would finish out Davis' term as Governor.

During this time, Tom could rally supporters for bigger, more important battles; such as a run for the U.S. Senate in 2004 or 2006 or a run for Governor in 2006. Hopefully by 2004 or 2006, Arnold will have unified and re-energized the Republican Party of California to battle against the Democrats.

"Politics is the art of compromise. He's been in politics long enough to know that."

Yes, I've noticed how compromising the little mob of Schwarzenegger Swooners/Screechers are.

I'll be so tickled when some come sneakin around here Oct. 8, 9 and 10 afraid to say another word about wondering why all these preliminary polls were so far off the mark!!!

Just for fun, I'm thinking about making a ping list to clog their "My Comments" pages with gloating HEADLINES chock full of "Crow Pie!"

Then finally, FR can get back to rational discussion of conservative issues without all this "rat pack" of tormentors pushing their fervent wishful thinking, etc.

Compromise is only possible where there is some definable common interest that doesn't involve having to trust the other party's commitment to the outcome!

Tom was asked about that. He noted that Arnold already has Warren Buffett.

One more thing:

They're thugs.

They threaten (McClintock won't be able to be elected if he fights this), use scare tactics (Bustamante will be elected if you vote for Tom), blame (and it'll be all your fault),belittle, call names, ridicule, lie, ignore questions to them, make statements they can't back up and a host of other things.

If these are the type of people that FReepers want to align themselves with, that's there choice. Not me, thanks.

Even legislating a minimum wage costs money to enforce. And a tax break is good only coupled with spending reduction, because otherwise it just means more borrowing.

You should know this, because you're a fiscal conservative... right?

California is already nearing the end of its ability to borrow, with its near-junk bond rating.

Even legislating a minimum wage costs money to enforce.

And Arnold, who falsely claimed to oppose government mandated costs that are driving jobs away from California, supports our having a higher minimum wage than the states we border.
