"I guess that now belongs to the U.N.??" Yup, that's what it means. Very unfortunate this. Skellig Michael which is an absolutely incredible island (well more like a giant rock...Irish monks lived there from something like the 4th or 5th century until the 10th or 11th century) off the west coast of Ireland is now a World Heritage Site also as are places in the United States.

"I guess that now belongs to the U.N.??" Yup, that's what it means. Well, no, actually it doesn't...I'm puzzled by this. Recognition by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site doesn't in any way change the ownership of the site or the land.
