The Solicitor General also monitors those cases in the Attorney General's Office which involve the constitutionality of a statute, interpretation of a constitutional provision, the functions of government, or other matter of great public interest. In such cases that will likely progress to the Florida Supreme Court, the Solicitor General provides input at the trial and intermediate appellate courts to ensure that the case in the best posture for the Florida Supreme Court's review.

Solicitor General Chris Kise
Attorney General Charlie Crist and Dean Don Weidner of the Florida State University College of Law jointly announced the appointment of Tampa attorney Chris Kise as Florida's Solicitor General. In addition to his role with the Attorney General's Office, Mr. Kise will also serve as the Richard W. Ervin Visiting Professor at the Florida State University College of Law.
Prior to his appointment as Florida's Solicitor General, Mr. Kise was a partner in the Tampa office of the Gray Harris law firm, where he served as Statewide Chair of the firm's White Collar Defense and Corporate Compliance Practice Group. His litigation practice extended throughout the United States representing individuals, private and public corporations, and government entities. A native of Miami, Florida, Mr. Kise received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Miami and is an Order of the Coif, magna cum laude graduate of the Florida State University College of Law, where he served as both Managing Editor and Articles Editor of the FSU Law Review.
