Don't forget that the Court of St. James tossed Old Man Joe Kennedy out of England when he was FDR's Ambassador for his pro NAZI stance.
It was quietly done of course with FDR recalling him for consultation and not returning him.
This was done before Germany invaded Poland and really got the war started.
