Schwarzenegger: McClintock a Pawn of Pro-Bustamante Indians
NewsMax ^ | Spet. 19, 2003 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 09/19/2003 8:52:17 PM PDT by FairOpinion

American Indians who are supporting Democrat front-runner Cruz Bustamante in California are also promoting Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, and GOP front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger is furious.

"I think that as far as Tom McClintock is concerned, I think the question I have for him is, what side is he on?" Schwarzenegger said Thursday. "Is he on the side of the Republicans? Does he represent the Republicans, or does he represent Bustamante?"

Schwarzenegger suggested that the tribes were abetting Bustamante by trying to split the Republican vote.

"They are financing his commercials and TV spots and all that," said Schwarzenegger, who doesn't take money from Indian tribes. "He knows they're financing him not because they want him to be governor. They just want to interfere with the process so that Bustamante wins. He has to decide which side is he on, the Republicans' or Bustamante's."

McClintock called Schwarzenegger's comments "a ridiculous statement by a man who obviously hasn't paid much attention to California public affairs. ... For 20 years, I have fought to protect sovereignty on reservation lands, well before there was gaming.

"If they wanted to hurt Schwarzenegger, they would be making an independent expenditure to hurt Schwarzenegger, and Lord knows there's plenty they could hurt him with."

Assemblyman John Benoit, R-Palm Desert, a Schwarzenegger supporter, told the Riverside Press-Enterprise: "I think the idea of divide and conquer is a tried and true tactic. I can't speak for the Indians, but if there was somebody looking to help Bustamante, this would be the way to do it."

the issue at hand: That a group which has supported the California Republican Party, which regularly attends and participates in its conventions, which is in turn supported by the CRP, which has has had its political goals overwhelmingingly endorsed by the vote of the CRP membership and which has had the CRP step forward as one of the top financial supporters of its Prop 1A tribal gaming initiative, made an independent expenditure on behalf of a conservative CRP member

Interesting. I was not aware of this information.

Gotta source, or a link?

These people won't address a single issue that has been raised.

There have been a long list of issues raises in this debate. TM has addressed them in detail, as have his supporters.

Conversely, AS supporters run away from the real issues like scalded cats from the bucket, and instead strew straw men and fallacies everywhere they go.

They just keep going back to this stupidity that California is still as conservative as it was back during Reagan's day, yadda, yadda, etc.

That's not a line of reasoning used by TM supporters, it is a fallacy planted throughout this by AS supporters.

Anyone who points out the fact that it isn't, and reads the writing on the walls..

Grafitti drawn by y'all.

...that obviously shows McClintock fits the stereotype of a typical politician...

No, the typical politician is squishy like y'all. Tom McClinton is a statesman who doesn't waver.

...why, you are a "RINO", and say that we must believe in a host of liberal causes...

Whatever you claim to be makes no difference. In a representative form of government, who you pick for office is the critical choice--because it is their philosopy that is going to be enacted. Personnel is policy. By supporting an extreme leftist, you are being a functional leftist, whether you admit it or not.

...which none of us has even remotely backed Schwarzenegger up on...

Which of course, is very telling. You are openly admitting that your candidate is indefensible.

...in fact, we openly say we oppose them, yet, they will say we are "Arnie worshipers"...

I don't call you "arnie worshipers". I call you hypocrites.

...all the while they prop McClintock up as the second coming who can do absolutely no wrong.

Never said any such thing. He just happens to be one of the few politicians, and the only one in this race, who actually represents conservatism/real solutions to California's spending crisis.

It's amazing the absolute hypocrisy they are demonstrating and liberal-style tactics of using emotion, rather than fact, as a basis for their arguments.

No paragraph could describe AS supporters better. Except I would add the words 'and lies' after the word 'emotion'.

In typical liberal fashion, you accuse your opponents of what you yourself are doing. You ought to be embarrassed.

Even in a normal race, ten points is nothing with weeks to go.

But this race is about as unpredictable and volatile as you could ever dream up. In fact, I don't think a fiction writer could write this--too unbelievable. ;-)

But there is no doubt whatsoever that this is winnable for Tom. He has stayed on message throughout...the message of the Davis spending crisis and the common-sense solutions for it.

That message jives with the very reasons this recall is even taking place: Californian's are disgusted with the irresponsibility of liberal politicians.

I have nothing to be embarrassed about. The only thing that should embarrass anybody is FReepers supporting leftists. That's embarrassing.

They don't believe in discussion. There is no good will there.

Without at least some scrap of good will, there can be no discussion. Just shouting.

King Yuen, you have my permission to vote for Arnie!

You're absolutely right in this post. The comparisons/miscomparisons that have been going on here - logicless! I was in this same similar boat for Ronnie. People, not so much that he couldn't win, but that he was such a joke, bedtime for bonzo and all that. They ridiculed and lied about him then, just as they attempt to do with Arnold. Its time for us to recognize who the 'they' are!

Dear F16Fighter, please feel free to start the Christian Party. You would do the Republican Party a huge favor! That way you could have everyone of the principled votes!
