American Indians who are supporting Democrat front-runner Cruz Bustamante in California are also promoting Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, and GOP front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger is furious.
"I think that as far as Tom McClintock is concerned, I think the question I have for him is, what side is he on?" Schwarzenegger said Thursday. "Is he on the side of the Republicans? Does he represent the Republicans, or does he represent Bustamante?"
Schwarzenegger suggested that the tribes were abetting Bustamante by trying to split the Republican vote.
"They are financing his commercials and TV spots and all that," said Schwarzenegger, who doesn't take money from Indian tribes. "He knows they're financing him not because they want him to be governor. They just want to interfere with the process so that Bustamante wins. He has to decide which side is he on, the Republicans' or Bustamante's."
McClintock called Schwarzenegger's comments "a ridiculous statement by a man who obviously hasn't paid much attention to California public affairs. ... For 20 years, I have fought to protect sovereignty on reservation lands, well before there was gaming.
"If they wanted to hurt Schwarzenegger, they would be making an independent expenditure to hurt Schwarzenegger, and Lord knows there's plenty they could hurt him with."
Assemblyman John Benoit, R-Palm Desert, a Schwarzenegger supporter, told the Riverside Press-Enterprise: "I think the idea of divide and conquer is a tried and true tactic. I can't speak for the Indians, but if there was somebody looking to help Bustamante, this would be the way to do it."

I feel like I am having a discussion with liberals--they are using the same tactics of diversion and then accusing us of what they themselves are doing. It's pathetic, and genuinely disappointing. I expect a higher level of discussion and debate here than this.Well put. They are grasping at straws to try to tear down McClintock - I guess because they've run out of ways to tout their own candidate. Every REAL conservative knows that McClintock is the only one we can vote for in good conscience. www.helptom.com

Time for the Arnold groupies to attack the California Republican Party and tribal sovereignty. You'd like that, huh? More hate, or division, more disruption.

They aren't addressing your post and the facts, they're just going through their routine of trying to shout down discussion. Pathetic...

Which is why the voters will not sign Tom McClintock's suicide pact and will vote for Schwarzenegger in their millions. Perhaps. Perhaps not. Not much upward momentum in his poll numbers. None in fact.
Which should surprise no one, since a house built without a base is doomed to crumble sooner or later.
Better for everyone if it's sooner...

Agreeing/disagreeing with the GOP endorsement is not relevant. Don't be roped in by these jokers. It's an effort to ever so slightly change the context of what is being discussed to make it appear that they have refuted the point. It's clever, to be sure, but not exactly honest. The GOP endorsement is not relevant to the fact that this group, which supports Bustamente, is also financially supporting McClintock. If they wanted McClintock to win, they would not be supporting Bustamente. Case closed.
They can post these little snippets about past GOP support for certain causes they have espoused in an effort to explain them away, but they are simply not relevant to this discussion (and those that are posting those things either are deliberately trying to change the subject or don't have the common sense to know the difference).

McClintock is smart, though, to bet all his chips on this race, 'cuz it's highly unlikely the party will support him for anything higher than county dogcatcher after this farce. On the contrary, the Party hierarchy would probably prefer that Bustamonte win, than Arnold does. Why? Because if Arnold wins, he becomes the effective head of the California Republican Party owing nothing to the current party insiders

What do you want now, turn back the clock? That's funny, I thought that was the theme of McClintock's campaign?
It's a little late to put that genie back in the bottle, but there are other battles brewing. Namely, the "Sacred Indian Lands" bill that would grant tribes veto power over all new construction in California.
Is Tom for this bill that would devastate our economy? If he's taking Indian casino money, is he going to vote for all of us, or for this well-healed liberal special interest that the GOP helped to create?

Just noting the facts. Ever hear the story of the scorpion and the frog? They can't help it, it's just their nature.

Because if Arnold wins, he becomes the effective head of the California Republican Party Wrong. The chairman of the CRP is elected by its members.

So, since you think it's a big deal (I don't really believe it--supporters of Arnold don't have any real principles they adhere to)---shouldn't you be equally incensed by every dollar given to known (public record) Hillary Clinton-supporter Warren Buffett? Shouldn't you be incensed by the fact that Arnold even calls him 'my close friend and mentor'?
How about all the money FOA (friend of Arnold) Dick Riordon has given to prominent RAT politicians?
But that won't bother you, because you are all a bunch of hypocrites working the daily talking points deployed by Arnold's leftist political hacks.
Carry on...

You are right, RW. EV should be ashamed. If all was on the up-and-up with him, he would be.
That there is something seriously wrong in his relationship to reality is clear. If I HAD to guess, I'd guess that someone over there where he lives, in Washington DC, is paying him to disrupt and divide. We may never know the truth.

Don't be roped inWhen it's pointed out that the tribal gaming groups are long time supporters of the CRP, that they're regular participants in their conventions, that their political efforts are endorsed and financially backed by the Republican Party, run in circles shouting.

Please provide the evidence those individuals are supporting Bustamente to back up your "hypocrite" argument. If you can, you've got something. Thanks.
(oh, and yes, I did notice you are changing the context of the discussion yet again...)
