Hispanics Largest Growing Population In Idaho

By Associated Press

BOISE -

Idaho's Hispanic population grew three times faster than the state as a whole in the first two years after the last census.

Leaders of the state's largest minority say that puts more pressure on public schools.

According to new estimates from the Census Bureau, the state grew at three-point-two percent overall from mid-2000 to mid-2002, with the Hispanic population jumping ten-point-six percent. Only 13 other states saw higher percentage growth in their Hispanic groups.

Gladys Esquibel, who heads the state Commission on Hispanic Affairs, says schools must change to address the needs of Hispanic students. The latest results from the state standards achievement tests show that more than half of Hispanic high school sophomores failed.

The same thing that's going to happen to the rest of the country real soon, (or is already happening.)

How many of them are illegals? Maybe they're there doing the jobs Americans refuse to do. [/sarcasm]

When I saw the picture it reminded me of Bourbon Street on Halloween. Just what do the potato queens do with the Russetts out there anyway?

Coming their way? It is already there. Did you see the thread yesterday where 90 illegal aliens where found to be working at a TJ Maxx distribution plant in Pennsylvania? And they haven't even finished going through the paper work for the, like, 900 employees so I imagine the number could be much higher.

Why can't they tell the truth? "Hispanics" aren't a problem. Illegal aliens are a problem !!

Exactly how do "Hispanic" students differ from the rest?

Yeah it is a national problem and almost all of the Republicans are looking the other way. Illegals here are overcrowding our hospitals, schools and prisons (murderers and drug dealers). Our local news media is always taking the side of the libs here when there is a death of an illegal crossing the border. It sad, so sad and getting more and more absurd.

Per the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, they will all have a great deal of trouble figuring out how to operate punch voting machines.

Sorry, Esquibel, but the Hispanics need to change, not the schools. As my great grandparents and all other minority groups who came to these shores to find a better life, they learned the English language and went to work, not to the local government offices with their hands out.

They wanted to contribute to the society as a whole, not make the society into the image of the oppresive, poor or starving homelands they left. As it is here in CA, all we hear about are the poor illegal Mexicans who are sneaking out of Mexico to seek a better life; yet we do not see them attempting to adapt to the society, but rather turn our state into the same horrific "Paradise that is Mexico" that they are supposedly fleeing. It just doesn't wash.

Politicians are not the ones walking into the local grocery or department store chain, and hearing Spanish spoken almost exclusively. I counted 18 employees at our local Target store yesterday, the majority young, speaking Spanish and unable to assist shoppers because they spoke no English!

Pandering politicians of all parties / affiliations seeing this demand that we adapt to any ethnic group not as a threat to national security but an assist to their own power grabbing ambitions, had better wake up.

This illegal Hispanic wave is not like other ethnic groups who allow themselves to be used and who will stay on the plantation for the libs / Dems / other politicians. This group is emboldened and demanding the pols give them what they promised (see Daivs, driver licenses, tuitions, education, etc.).

I just want to see the day that the illegals and the casinos move into Babs Boxer or Drear Davis' neighborhood as equals, not servants.

Gee, I guess it's just too much to expect them to change to fit into OUR Country, like all the immigrants before them. </ sarcasm>
