Bush says Palestinians need to choose leaders who'll fight terror
Camp David, Maryland-AP -- Some words of advice to the Palestinians today from President Bush -- who says if they want peace, they need to have a leader who fights terror.
Bush made the comments at Camp David in Maryland, where he met with Jordan's King Abdullah.
The president told reporters that Yasser Arafat has "failed as a leader." And he accuses Arafat of forcing the resignation of the Palestinian prime minister -- someone Bush says had been working for peace.
He said he hopes that "at some point in time," a new Palestinian leadership will emerge -- one that will be fully committed to "fighting off terror."

In Ramallah: Arafat meets Fatah leaders to pick new Cabinet ministers
18-09-2003

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and leaders of his Fatah movement convened on Thursday to choose ministers in the new Palestinian government.
In Ramallah, the Fatah Central Committee held a meeting to choose candidates for 15 of 23 seats in the new Cabinet.
It was unclear whether the Fatah leaders would present designated Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei (Abu Ala) with a slate of 15 ministers, or a list of candidates from which he would pick the ministers. The remaining eight ministers would represent other Palestinian groups or independents.
Initially, Qurei wanted to set up an emergency Cabinet with around eight ministers, however Fatah and Palestinian leader Arafat vetoed that. (Albawaba.com)
