For those unfamiliar with this school... Furman University is located in Greenville, SC and used to be supported by the Southern Baptist Convention.

OK, should I leave town when the throngs of Clinton worshippers arrive, or stay & protest?

Furman is my alma mater and has turned more liberal since I graduated (along with any other institution). Furman severed its ties with the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 1992. S.C. Hollingsworth left nearly all of his $400 million estate to Furman University and the Greenville YMCA a few years ago and they have turned very liberal.

In 2001, Furman decided to turn their backs on all of their Christian conservative supporters by announcing it will offer ‘domestic partner’ benefits to its employees. Truly sickening and have not sent any more money to the institution.

Indeed, it was a sad day when they turned their back on God. Also, I had forgotten that Dick Riley went to Furman.

My husband and I received our degrees from BJU (at least we know Hillary won't ever speak there!) I think Furman has a beautiful campus and we love the 4th of July concerts there. Viewed the fireworks this year from the top of Paris Mtn - awesome!!

Bingo! This was a subject this morning on local talk radio. Where will Hillary & her people, supporters, etc. stay & eat while in South Carolina? This would be one time I'd like to see the NAACP & the Rev. Jackson spring into action & chastise them for breaking the boycott.

This isn't the 90s, Hitlery; so get off the stage. America doesn't need or want you.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - New York Democratic [Memo to Associated Press - it's 'Democrat'] Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will speak next month at the Riley Institute's "Women & Politics: Transforming Public Leadership" conference at Furman University.

Clinton and CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl will kick off the two-day conference Oct. 6. Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund, will speak at the final lecture Oct. 7.

The event is sponsored by the Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership. Riley served as South Carolina governor and U.S. Secretary of Education. "It'd be certainly significant that Hillary Clinton is coming here and will participate," Riley said this week. [Significant? Because she's a woman who never would have amounted to anything, but for the swine she married? Now there's an example for all young women to emulate!] link
