Ah - consulted Webster's, dansy - -

Beaufort - - (B Yoo with a line over the two oo's - fort)

The legend at the bottom shows that double "o" with the line atop them is pronounced as those in "OOZE" - so I was correct.

Heck, I pronounce *both* of them Byoofort - and just to make matters more confusing, we have a *Buford* in GA.
Sheesh.
