Sounds like standard procedures for hospitals for bad weather events. Happens during snow/ice around here too.

I think you are right about SOP for hospitals. But, that leaves my mother home all alone. My brother lives over near Craddock High School and his area was designated for evacuation also. If she needed help, I don't think he could get to her.
There are a couple of big, old oak trees right up near the house and I am worried that one of them might come down. When we moved in there in 1960, they were rather small at the time, about 9 inches across. They are really huge now after 40 years of growth. Hopefully, neither of them has any weakened brittle branches that will come off onto the house.
