Thanks for the clarification.
While getting that slug out is our #1 priority, doing so will be meaningless if we allow bustamante to take his place. A vote for a man who stands no chance of defeating him is as good as a vote for the man himself.
Not quite. A vote for someone other than Schwarzenegger and Bustamante (the two frontrunners) or no vote for anybody is a vote that's not for Bustamante or Schwarzenegger. It's a minor difference, but that voter may contribute to the yes/no question, too.
If the polls show Bustamante leading by a significant margin, I might think twice before voting to remove Davis, since a "yes" vote would virtually guarantee a Bustamante administration in that case. If multiple polls showed Bustamante ahead shortly before you vote, would you still vote to recall Davis? (This is hypothetical.)
Perhaps the Democrats ran Bustamante to make Davis look good.
No problem.

Agreed. But a no vote will be a vote to maintain the status quo. Is that what you want?

Only if mcclintock decides to stay in and play the role of spoiler.

That's a very good question heleny. I would hope that if multiple polls show bustamante ahead shortly before the vote Tom would do the right thing and drop out. Should he not I'd have to weigh that decision then.
