At my last job I watched my boss traipse off to her Society of Black Engineers meetings.

Back in the late 1990's when I worked for Boeing, we had a black women running to machine shop here in St. Louis and she won the "Black Engineer of the year award" one year. Needless to say things got so bad, Boeing sold us to a British company. I have to wonder if this is the same person.

They should include Persians and Afghans as Caucasians. That will add some diversity. Hope it works for her. They left is a bitter enemy.

When you find a Spaniard calling him or herself hispanic (much less chicano or latino...) be sure to let me know.
All the others you mention are geographic - "american" or an island close by.

"OH boy, that's a brave kid. But if they allow clubs for other ethnicities, they'll have to allow this one. I think."

Doublethink again.

No more geographic than being of European ancestry.

Technically a Spaniard should be a "hispanic". You can call a pure-blood Mayan Indian, a pure African-Puerto-Rican a Hispanic, you can call a pure Spaniard from Mexico or Cuba a hispanic, or an Italian from Argentina a hispanic. You can call someone from New Mexico who speaks no Spanish a hispanic.

You stated Whites have no bond to other Whites as a whole, only to their own particular White ethnicity.

I have never stated that. You're involved in a typical strawman fallacy.

The 'Strawman' fallacy consists of creating a flimsy caricature of your opponents view, and then demolishing it, rather than arguing against your opponents actual views.

'Strawman' is one of the best-named fallacies, because its name vividly illustrates the nature of the fallacy. Imagine a fight in which one of the combatants sets up a man of straw, attacks it, then proclaims victory. All the while, the real opponent stands by untouched. In a dialectical contest, this is what the Strawman amounts to.

For example:

george wythe: Larry King does not have strong muscles.

strawman answers: You said that Larry King has no muscles.

Another example:
george wythe: Caucasians do not have a strong ethnic bondage similar to blacks or Hispanics

Ursus arctos horribilis: You stated Whites have no bond to other Whites as a whole, only to their own particular White ethnicity.

I definately don't have a strong bond to your fallacious reasoning.

I don't think "La Raza" members would believe you on this

Of course, there are always exception to any rule.

I think she's trying to make a point about the separatist side of the exisiting groups.

If that's the reason, then her heart might be in the right place.

This "club" sounds more like making a point than a legitimate ethnic club, where people sit around to share their ancestral music, language quirks, unique cuisine, inside jokes, cultural dances, etc.

When I was in college learning French, I visited French-American clubs regularly to get a chance to learn French nasal vowels from natives.

I remember a lot of camaraderie and good will among people of difference races who were bonded by their common Gallic background. . . food, wine, religion, chansons, literature, unique humor. Those clubs are still around. The same can be said about the other ethnic clubs that I visited.

I’m just having a hard time visualizing a Caucasian club meeting without the adjective boring coming to mind, but I could be wrong.

How about a bond to human beings instead of just 'white people'? There are many white people who live in other countries who would not feel particularly bonded to you just based on your skin color.

What would be the point of a causian-american club? What IS a caucasian-american? I agree with you. It would be boring. The 'tit for tat' mentality is tired and boring. There are many ethnic college clubs, French, German, Italian... I met a man from South Africa who is white. He's Dutch. I'm Italian and West Indian. We have A LOT in common, just based on common cultural aspects. There are white people living in the South who have way more in common with black Southerners (even if they don't like that) than say a white person from Germany. This whole 'we're bros because we're white' that's as ridiculous as 'black brother-sister'.

You know exactly what she's doing. She's fed up with the NAACP and LaRaza groups getting a free ride in the media. This is just one way to point it out.

Most of whom are in the country illegally, and voting.

Thanks to the Democrats and the "motor-voter bill". Just ask former Congressman Bob Doernon.

How many blacks do you know that can actually trace their heritage back to Africa? Please. I can trace mine to France and Germany easier.

I wouldn't go, except to hack off people who threatened my freedom of association. After the club is grudgingly granted the right to exist, the fun would all be gone. Hopefully, this young lady has come up with a way to show school adminstration officials just how far they've bent backwards to encourage racial separation, and maybe they can just get back to getting kids to join the Chess Club, whatever their heritage.

That's nonsense. There isn't that much racial tension in America. It seems to me most of it is intentionally generated or fabricated.

"I have never stated that. You're involved in a typical strawman fallacy."

Really, in your own words you stated: "Caucasians do not have a strong ethnic bondage similar to blacks or Hispanics.

So, according to you Caucasians are not synonymous with the White race, the two words, White and Caucasian, are not commonly used interchangeably, that Caucasians are merely an obscure ethnic group from the Caucasus Region located on the southern slope of the Caucasus Mountains .

Yes, I now understand the meaning of a strawman, it is synonymous with stupid. As in, it is stupid to accept such tripe as that which you proffer for logic.

It is your right to bond with whomever you please. It is also my right to choose not to do so.
